I'll try keep this as short as possible, but I think it's a tale worth telling.
My friend and I in a sloop decide to check out a skull fort only to find a galleon already there, but we decided to try our luck anyway. My friend cannons onto the island, while I drive around taking pot shots at the galleon to keep them distracted. Then another galleon and two sloops arrive. During the chaos of the ensuing battle my friend, on the island manages to kill the captain and sneak the key off the island as I sailed by to pick him up. We laughed as we sailed away, watching the other ships still battling it out. We go do some gold horders while we wait for things to calm down but eventually the galleon that had been there initially realises that we must have run off with the key and manages to catch up with us and chase us for over an hour. Thinking we'd lost them we decide to stop at an outpost and drop the chests off that we'd got from the subsequent gold horder voyages but as we're about to pull away the galleon appears from around the rocks at the outpost, catching us by surprise. We try to run away but they get a lucky shot on our ship with a cannon that kills us both. We spawn back to see our ship sinking and the strong hold key sinking to the sea floor. We try to kill the galleon crew to stop them getting the key but alas we only managed to kill two of them before the others kill us. So we quickly jump in our respawned sloop and high tail it across the map to the outpost to see if we can catch them with the loot. As we arrive their are just finishing loading the skull fort loot and another battle ensues, which we manage to win, sinking their ship and killing all their crew. We then quickly headed straight to the nearest outpost and cashed it in.
One of the crew from the galleon then sent a slightly salty message to my crew mate on the xbox app, followed by a friend invite. They knew they had been beaten by better pirates and wanted us to fight with them in future instead of against, which all things considered was quite a compliment. :D
