I've never quite understood the scuttle mechanic. When you scuttle,, the loot doesn't despawn so the only thing the crew gains is they get to kill the person whom they consider a griefer as a last act of revenge? - Oh, I guess I just came to understand why they do it.
"Quick.. we are bad at the game , HIT THE SCUTTLE OPTION!!"
@anoka-tim it's not hard to understand really..
If you're part of a crew getting decimated, if the enemy crew refused to sink your ship you'd just get endlessly spawn camped on your ship.
Hence.. scuttle option.
@anoka-tim true which is basically what rare needs to correct - its not that they are "killing" you really, they are just taking advantage of an unintentional glitch

Well if you've been in that situation, I'm sure now you already know where I am going with this and my comment is how annoying it is that your character gets thrown into the black loading screen and taken back to your ship
This is extremely powerful and should not be changed. I beg.
@gloog i can see being trapped on a sinking ship so maybe thats their intent ? but then slow down the sink rate once its "sunk", no ship torpedos down into the depths like that lol. The sink rate would at least allow you to get out.
@gloog how so ? it's only been an annoyance to me because most times we board and have the crew split up, so the boarded crew is unaware... then once they're sunk it basically screws us because we lose sight of the treasure or exact place their ship went down or whatever. .. but maybe i'm missing something lol
My crew and I had just gotten done off-loading our haul and this other sloop that appeared to be manned by 2 (turned out to be solo) started firing at us. We then returned fire and started to sink their ship.
My crewmate had me cease fire and we boarded his boat, killed him and started to search for his treasure. I went below deck and as I started looking around, I noticed increased ship damage, loud cracks and explosion-like sounds, and water seeping up to the upper level.
The boat then started to spin in the air, my crewmate laughing and then all of a sudden I spawned 2 islands over from my crewmate and my ship.@vapor1080 said in "Quick.. we are bad at the game , HIT THE SCUTTLE OPTION!!":

In what way is it a glitch or unintentional? Your screen Fades to black, and purposefully puts you back on your ship or on an island...
if you get put on an island, take the mermaid back to your ship...
They're not taking advantage of anything, the ship sunk, and the game INTENTIONALLY teleported you out of the sinking ship so you didn't sink with it.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HERE?! O_O
@sweltering-nick
try it when you have 8k of stolen goods and your trying to tell your crew to come pick you up but oh wait... you're now on board with your crew, let me know how you make out ;)@vapor1080 said in "Quick.. we are bad at the game , HIT THE SCUTTLE OPTION!!":

I don't think you missed anything...scuttling is to screw you.

Sure we can ask rare to make you respawn near the place where you faded to black, that's fine, but...
Here's a tip... Instead of going below deck... You can stay on the main deck of a sloop, and look at what is below deck through the metal bars of the hole in the middle of the deck.
Or you can just sink their ship properly and wait for the treasure to float up.
Or you can pay attention to the name of the islands nearby so you know where to go?
Tbvh, ya goofed... Don't whine about it. :P
30 second respawn time and a black loading screen that takes forver on consoles.
I don't think anyone wants to get spawn killed and forced to wait 1 to 2 minutes to respawn.New players scuttle the ship to move along on their "PvE adventure''.
Attacked every few hours by a crew of PvP ''griefers''. 😄Funny how rare calls PvP players ''griefers'' in a loading screen and says to scuttle your ship.
Even put a new message in the Ferry Of The Damned teaching how to scuttle. At a skull fort if you think your sinking scuttle your ship to spawn back in closer.
You won't be placed across the map. Well played Rare. 👏@tre-oni said in "Quick.. we are bad at the game , HIT THE SCUTTLE OPTION!!":

Exactly. Nobody should be forced to deal with spawn camping. It is their boat and thus they should have that freedom. Seems pretty logical to me. Besides, if they have any treasure on board, it's not like they get to keep it or anything...
