No, not the battle royal mode. But something like the meteor that is the big thing in that game right now and that might or might not change that game world. we know the third big update is gonna be a map expansion. So it could be something bug like a volcano and how is it going to change things.
Sea of Thieves should take a page from Fortnite...
I hate to say but a somewhat changing environment sounds fun... maybe at some point in time expand the map enough to add a icy frozen snowy coast or big island of a kind in the north and a vulcano to the south..
At some point in the future we will know all outposts blindly and i kind of hope the game introduces new maps maybe once a year.... would solve a whole lot of "no content, nothing to explore" problems/complaints too... like in a season2 of the game like pubg did releasing a new map every now and then..
Maybe even make those new maps have new themed enemies like the snowy island has ice skeletons
Or make the 2nd map only available to players who have achieved reputation X (only pirate legends being able to play on new map would not be reasonable but some sort of soft cap is nothing too crazy i guess)
Maybe make those new maps only available for players who bought the game not using game pass only to make sure rare stays alive financally and make sure complaints about "this game is not worth 60 bucks" will be addressed by 2nd map be free to payers, 3rd map in some far future could be 20 bucks DLC ... i guess its fair

And servers could be linked so that if you sail through the portal, a ship that is chasing you could sail through it as well to the same new server xD this is a joke, linking servers would be a nightmare :P
