Will there ever be real character creation or better filters in SoT?

    I deleted my pirate who was 22-23-22 and had loads of gold and purchases because she looked like a crossdresser, I want to look like a girl. So I went and spent from 10pm last night till currently 3:24am this morning rerolling, favoriting, rerolling, replacing, rerolling. Hours upon hours f*****g wasted I could have been playing.

    But see, I don't want a "Rare original" old lady with warts and missing teeth(especially as missing teeth is a phobia of mine). I want a moderately attractive, able looking girl in her 20s-30s. So I feel more... me. If I am going to spend 20-30-40-50 hours on a game where you build your own legacy and go on adventures, I want to feel like me.

    Despite that, I have resigned to going to bed and trying again tomorrow, for possibly hours. As I work two jobs, they may just become too much to ask after a certain amount of effort. Is it so much to ask for at least some more filters? I don't want to be 70+, I don't want to be a toothpick or 300lbs over, I don't want missing teeth. I want a character who feels mildly relatable.

    I might consider just returning the game at this rate. I am a big advocate for the game despite its blatant lack of content and unfinishedness. I have gotten 6 friends to try it so far. But I only have so many hours in my life to reroll so far nearly 5 wasted. That is the opposite of "players being able to quickly get into a game without adjusting sliders for hours". Hate to tell you, but people who do that, enjoy doing that. If they don't they just use a premade or random. And no matter how many times you show me granny no teeth or a 5lb dude with a beard, I am not going to pick them, they are not me.

    Is there any plan for fixing this atrocious character selection system? I'd like to know now before I spend any more time on this.

    I believe they said that they wanted people to choose a pirate looking wonky and awkward character to go with the aesthetic of the game so at this point i guess no, at least not any time soon.

    i love these characters,they looks so funny.we r pirates its ok missing some teeth;).but i spotted some normal lookin female characters,

    I am glad you found a character you love! ^-^

    As for teeth... Well not when you have nightmares about it constantly. Anyway.

    See the problem isn't goofy characters. My friend wanted to play a barrep chested old man with a long beard. He gave up trying to find one and quit playing after 3.5 hours of his life wasted. All the components are there in the randomizer, but he couldn't happen to roll one.

    That is r******d. Having the ability to simply make that pirate would have made him happy and content. But he didn't want to build a legend as a pirate he wasn't attached to.

    And it isn't just us, the complaint appeared a lot over beta and still does on YT, reddit and various blogs.

    There is no justified reason to show people that all the pieces of the pirate they want exist, but tell them they have to spend hours or days rolling to hopefully find a close comparable.

    The game urgently needs to give us more options to edit the characters.
    Making a woman character is horrible, few female customization.
    A man in a dress looks better, prettier than a woman in the game.

    I have seen some decent females in other people's games but they were either lucky or rolled for hours.

    I hope my comments about the character creator don't make whomever made it sad, the artstyle is lovely. Honestly what exists isn't a problem. It just should have editing options after you pick the random pirate, for those who want more control.

    Some people, like my brother, just selected the first dude it landed on. Other people, like my friend, quit because they felt it was wasting their time spinning over and over.

    I was going for the tough pirate b*tch look so I wanted a character who was a little rough around the edges looking and luckily after 10 minutes I found her.

    My two friends have really pretty female pirates so it is possible. Do not give up.

    @combatxkitty she looks pretty cool kind of like what I was looking for. Sadly I found nothing of the sort personally while rerolling.
