Just a quick list of things that you should do to be a good crew mate.
- Always empty your pockets before going on an island, shipwreck, or see barrels floating. This way you can grab bananas, wood planks, and cannonballs to fill the ship
- Fill the ship stock whenever and where ever possible
- If you aren't driving, work the sails
- If you don't have a mic, get familiar with the in game communication options and use them. The available commands change depending on what is in your hands
- Always make sure there is a look out on the ship when loot is onboard
- See a gun powder barrel, take it to the ship
- Everyone likes to put stuff in different places, it typically works best if you just conform to what the crew is doing
- If you are the more experienced one on board....share that information. The only way people can get better or GitGud, is if they learn from those more experienced
- Never sacrifice the ship or loot for a glory moment
- Avoid the anchor, use the sails. If you are stopped with sails up, raise the anchor for a faster get away or defensive maneuver. This is even more relevant when you are sailing a sloop solo
- If you are on a Galleon....help raise the anchor when you hear it start
- Use those gun powder barrels
- If you are on a sloop and being chased by a galleon, head up wind. He can't catch you up wind
- If you are on a galleon chasing a sloop use angles to block up wind running
- Only anchor turn when it is safe to do so, can't count how many ships I have boarded from bad anchor turns
- If you are on your ship and you hear water splashing....someone is coming aboard
- If you board an enemy ship, drop anchor immediately
- Call out other ships when you see them
- ALWAYS scan the horizon when leaving your ship to search an island or shipwreck
Did I miss anything?
