Three Man Brigantine, Six Man Frigate, Eight Man Ship of the Line!

  • -The Brigantine (Three Man)
A brigantine is generally fast and manuverable, sporting more firepower than a schooner or sloop but still not quite as manuverable as its smaller counterparts. My suggestion is to have a somewhat similar design to a galleon but a bit smaller, the brigantine inheriting the three decks similar to the galleon but with lower ceilings and less space. My last suggestion for the brigantine is for the ship to sport 6 cannons all together and perhaps a ram that you could use to damage other ships without sustaining any damage in the front at the point of contact.
    -The Frigate (Six Man)
A frigate is a large ship sporting massive firepower. A similar but more stramline design to a galleon with just as many decks. The frigate is longer than a galleon with a bit more firepower but due to its design it would make sense for it to be faster in a straight line. This ship should also sport 10 cannons; five on each side.
-Ship of the Line (Eight Man)
A ship of the line is a massive ship with firepower that cannot be matched with any lesser ship types. Due to its size it is a pain to manuver and is extremely slow. The SOTL has three gun decks, a hold below the waterline, and a main deck. Im not sure how you could balance it out with sticking to the games original ship designs but its just a thought.

  • I like your ship ideas, however, for the games current design I don’t know if they would work well. If there was a mode / or design change to the game where there were 2 or 3 teams or clans in a sever, I think having these larger warships would be great. With the current setup, where you have some people playing solo in sloops, some in duos, etc, I think the larger warships would be hard to balance.

The idea of having teams or clans though, would allow you to have a large warship like that, along with a couple smaller ships near by. Running quests and objectives as a fleet and engaging in large scale naval combat.

    Just a thought!

I agree with the whole balancing issue on the subject of the SOTL. In terms of the other ships the brigantine is a much needed jack of trades between the galleon and sloop. The frigate on the other hand is probably as big as we need to get in terms of "bigger" ships. Big enough to add a bit of fun and change the way we sail bit small enough to where balancing wont be a problem.

  • i want to sea longer and bigger ships sailing down the seven sees but would be cool to watch a massivly long and big ship sink should add a weight element so ships could titanic if weight is heavy enough

  • @superginger999 @superginger999 I agree that a mid sized ship is definitely needed. A two sail ship for 2-3 players with 4 cannons would be perfect. And it would be easily balanced. Not as fast as the Galleon, but able to turn sharper. Faster than a sloop but not as maneuverable.
