I have probably more than 100+ hours in the game and I still haven't seen the Kraken once. It is because I am mainly playing solo or a 2-man sloop. I would really like to see the Kraken as a threat even for sloop.
Kraken attacking sloop with low probability at least
well i think of it this way, if you were hungry and someone placed two plates infront of you with your favorite meal but one portion was 2 servings bigger than the other plate; which would you choose?
I do have a friend who was attacked by the kraken on a sloop but i prefer the sloop since it has a low probability. however i heard that you can increase the probability by attacking ships. so my advice is play a galleon and sail in the beasts territory ( red and spiked heading) or attack ships to make yourself more to the things liking.

@frankypirate yeah u got more chance if a other galleon make him appear and u join the fight i dont even know if a sloop can make him spawn anyway on a galleon its piece of cake but should be h*****n a sloop specially solo but cen make a great tales of piracy ;)
I don't think a sloop would stand much of a chance against a Kraken, I'm not disagreeing with you about solo or two man players missing out on the chance to fight the legendary beasty from the deep but I think a lot of people would be more annoyed about losing a sloop full of plunder with little chance to survive than missing out on fighting the Kraken.
Maybe they will add a few slightly smaller beastys to fight with a sloop, I'm hoping for giant crabs or a giant shark.
