Take out barrels of free stuff in outposts, reduce the number severely on the other islands and Pirate ships don't start with cannonballs. All players purchase cannon balls and other supplies in outposts, also make cannonballs expensive, 20-50 gold each, that way griefers can't afford to just keep bugging people
How to stop Griefers
@dead1y-renagade That might be a great idea! However, the griefers I have come across didn't even bother taking our (me and my husband run a two person sloop) loot or resources. They just kept killing us repeatedly and sank our ship. One of the times, I watched from the shoreline as it all unfolded in front of me. lol They eventually found me and killed me anyway. lol
As great as that would be, new players, and players with no purse whats so ever wouldn't be able to have a fighting chance if cannonballs cost, the starting amount of resources is slim as is. 45 cannon balls on the galleon? thats normally through away quite fast in a fight. island resources is important because thats the only way to restock.
Until they add a way for us to buy resources for a reasonable amount, i cant say id like resources on islands and outposts reduced greatly.
Plus most griefers normally just chase you endlessly, use kegs, spawn trap you, they dont really use cannonballs and planks. most of the time, people realize that we know what we are doing and give up on trying to shot out ship so they resort to ramming us and boarding trying to spawn trap us.@nwo-azcrack You have that a bit wrong. It is a PVE with some PVP. Maybe a 90% PVE to a 10% PVP. It makes sense to pay for ammo, HOWEVER, the grind is much too high to get money to gain cannonballs. This suggestion really doesn't help and overall hurts the players.
You want to stop griefers, give them something else to do.
Everyone keep misunderstanding griefers with players playing the game.
If my crew and I are sailing and we see any ship, were sinking it, easy treasure.
If you run and actually dont have any treasure and you wasted both of our time I will find you and I will kill you.
Gotta let the server know who runs the place.@nwo-azcrack How do you define that?
Here is how I define this - This games overall goals are to turn in treasure to gain a reputation with one of three NPC guilds. Each of those have you go out into the world to find and return with items from the island not from other players.
If you don't like the primary goals, the second option is skeleton forts. Again NPC raids. Those skeletons are not player controlled.
Then there is the NPC Kraken, the Storms, the Sharks.
So all that can be done without any interaction with any other player in the game. Those are all environmental based gameplay.
With that said you CAN, but it is not required, attack other ships to try and steal their loot, but this does not progress you towards the goals of the game, unless they are carrying some sort of loot on them.
So 100% of the time to progress you need to turn in loot. You need to acquire said loot. How you choose to play is on you, but if no one is around which can be 20-30 minutes that makes this a PRIMARY STRONG FOCUS ON PVE with very little or WEAK EMPHASIS on PVP. Since PVP is not required to get to the "end goal" it makes it PVE with minor PVP aspects. That is where 90-10 PVE to PVP comes in.

Gotta let the server know who runs the place. That last bit... THAT is griefing. If they run... and you catch them because they don't want to fight... and you kill them and sink their ship... and they don't have treasure so you track them down om the map JUST to kill them... that is griefing.
@ii-axelforce-ii That is fine, but you are not a Griefer. You are a Pirate by your definition. Griefers are players who don't sink the ship, just kill the same person over and over again, for no major reason other than they can. This can be screaming profanities at the while killing, but not really a requirement.
You are just a pirate seeking loot and you move on. You are no griefer.

But what about the player who doesnt care about progression? Not saying im that guy. But what about the guy who logs in everyday and sinks ships and reminds everyone the seas are not safe?@nwo-azcrack That is fine, that is their personal objective, and there are a few exceptions to my 90-10 claim. There will always be those few players whose goal are not to progress.
But If we take an unbiased look at the game a "Reasonable" (not the exception) player will see that this is heavily weighted towards the PVE aspects of this game. They may come in thinking there is PVP all over the place, but the reasonable player will determine that after a few hours of play maybe 30 minutes of that is actual PVP while the rest is just sailing and doing missions making it PVE.

What i was trying to say is that you can get to pirate legend without ever doing pve. Aside from the riddle part i heard about. Pve is truly optional where as pvp is not. I personally understand they go hand in hand. I like both. And without ppl collecting stuff for us all to take then it would get boring. I know the point you are trying to make tho mate.@nwo-azcrack I completely understand your point as well. You can get to Legend without doing missions, but it is going to be a very long bumpy ride to get there.
The other major thing is SOMEONE has to do missions. It may not be you or I, but someone has to interact with the environment so we can steal something from them. If there is nothing to steal, then there is nothing to turn in. It is the circle of life for solo sloopers who don't pvp.
I want to know what is considered Griefing in this game? There is really NO way to grief someone in this game. You either win the fight or you lost. If you lost then you lost. Someone help me understand. Please.
If you are suggesting that people going around and being a PIRATE is griefing you should play another game.
THIS PART IS FOR THE OTHERS
This game being open PvP is the only thing that is keeping it alive and a lot of reasons why me and a lot of people I know are still playing this game. The open PvP IS the game. You do realize how little there is to do in the game already at the moment, adding any kind of option of separate PvE would make PvP areas even more dead and worthless. If you are thinking about having a WoW game on the high seas then wait for one. Don't try to turn this into another RNG PvE grinding game.

This will just make "Griefers" try much harder to reckt you and take your supplies. This game would turn into a constant slaughterfest of "griefer" galleons hunting down sloops to gain supplies for free instead of paying for them. ALSO once you pass level 25-30 you swim in Gold. I have bought ALL the cosmetics i want and still have half a million gold on me.
This is a bad idea.
