How I got in the situation isn't important here but yesterday I found myself in a fight Vs a 4 man galleon as a solo sloop.
I had a gunpowder barrel placed at the tip of the bow of my ship, so I aimed my ship to ram right into the side of theirs, and set myself up to board after.
Sound plan: ship rams, barrel explodes, killing some of them and making holes, I jump on, drop anchor, and either stop repairs or make more holes.
Major problem and design flaw: even though it visibly hits their ship, the barrel doesn't explode.
This in the same game where you can let go if a barrel swimming under a ship and have it blow up that way, without even taking damage from it.
Could I have shot at it? Sure. So could they, to blow it up before I reach them.
Should I have to? Absolutely not.
The fact it didn't blow up on its own was so dumbfounding to me I just up and closed the game for the day, I couldn't handle the fact the flaw even exists.
