New System: Set as Ally

  • I would like to suggest a new in game system: the ability to set other players that are not a part of your crew as allies.

A lot of the time when crews work together mutually they have to be careful of friendly fire and if another crew or more show up it becomes a confusing mess of who is on your side.

The system would work like this:

Player 1 selects Player 2 and sets them as "Ally"
Player 2 must accept the on screen prompt that Player 1 sent them
If accepted they are now both allies.
However this can be turned off by either player at anytime, ie not locked in so there is still some chance of what will play out.
Also everyone on both crews are automatically set as allies after both players agree.
When allied they are like crew members and do not take damage from your weapons.
When turning in loot, allies receive equal gold/reputation as well.

    Ingame distinction:
    Allied players Gamertags - Blue
    Crew Gamertags - Green
    All other players - White

  • That seems similar to how Diablo has always done it. I do believe however friendly fire should never be turned off, and that any gold/rep should be cut in half while allied. I am not opposed to the idea though

  • Maybe a Parlay chat emote?

  • Good idea but yeah, the experience and rewards must be halfed.

  • I kinda like the idea of allied pirate partners. But that should be more in a way like: the lootshare is part of the debate between the players. If we make the lootshare 100% of the loot for all allies, we literally create crews with more than 4 people in it and they can also do 2 questlines at a time.
Thats way too strong! Its essential that we make sure, we cant hit our allies or pirates we wanna cooperate with.

  • @erikilehnsherr

You are right probably 50% coin would be better to prevent everyone on the sever from doing this automatically.

  • @quicksilver7723 I don’t know about the gold part though, because it should definitely be split so there is a disadvantage in teaming, but sometimes crews will split the loot unevenly (ie 2/3) and should manually turn it in, plus the “all crew members are allied because of 2 people needs some work”

  • I'm fine with an ally statement that changes their name color but it should not prevent you from injuring each other.
