The Lazy Pirate strategy (The George Costanza)

  • I wanted to experiment something last night on SoT.

This happens a lot in the real world and in offices where there is one employee that doesn't do anything yet no one notices and other's still pick up his slack. At the end of the day he is rewarded and paid just like all the other employees. Kind of like a George Costanza "Pensky File" type of thing.

So I decided to go solo on a galleon and the game matched me with a crew of 3 others. Didn't say a word or hello at first. Just went to the captain's quarter's and hit the sleep emote on the bed and just chilled and listened while the crew planned their next voyage. After about 30 minutes I was eventually noticed and said "alright yeah hi everyone"
    Zzzzz

Got my a*s up and promptly found a new hiding spot, a little shelf ledge on the side of the ship near the Captains Quarter's. Yawned and off to sleep I went.
    My sleeping spot

During the voyage the captain would ask me to lift the sails... "aye aye captain". No sails were lifted but just like in real life, your coworkers pick up your slack without even realizing when the boss asks for it again.

The Captain (Shoutout to DG PappySack) at one point asked me for directions "Yeah let me check the map room" (still in my spot).. "Head southwest" (Just randomly picked a direction). Eventually a crew member went down to the map room and corrected my error, yet no one complained, just took it as if we were slightly off course.

I stayed asleep on the edge of the ship for about an hour while they completed 2 voyages and cashed the loot. If I was asked where I was I was either with them fighting the skellys (no I wasn't), and if they said no you're not, I would say "Yeah just went back to the ship to get more ammo" or "I died" or "I'm in the crow's nest looking for ships" (No I wasn't, I was asleep on my ledge). We got in a battle at one point, I told them I was downstairs repairing the ship and needed help, someone went down the fix the holes while I slept.

Sleeping while my crew fought Skellys

In conclusion, this technique really works, I made about 7k for doing absolutely nothing. Initially, I wouldn't recommended because it might be considered griefing, however, after thinking about it a little bit further, for the sake of realism and piracy; this is a perfect example of next level pirate thievery: Infiltrate a ship's crew to be placed in their payout ledger yet not do any of the work.

    We're in the money!

More amusing than entertaining, however not as rewarding as playing the game properly of course :)

    Happy Pirating

  • @xtrox Better than random crew mates throwing your loot in the ocean without ever saying 1 word after they get on your ship.
still how did they not realize for that long ?? l**o

  • @instatikz One crewmeber was his first time playing with a crew. The other was a very young kid. The captain was an older gentleman that was too busy giving orders, manning the wheel, and teaching the other's how to play the game haha.

  • lol, they need to have a hidden cubby hole as a ship upgrade. i wish i could catch some real sleep during some of these treks. i was on WAY too late last night.
