  • Is the joke that this is probably the worst place to store it?

  • @robroythered i really don't think theres anywhere good to store gun powder barrells lol but job with the storing though

  • @james-dinh

Maybe....then again i came across someone who did just that a few days back on his Galleon, he shot it and damaged my Sloop so bad it pretty much sank instantly, while his Galleon was fine.

  • I love to store my gunpowder on your ship! is that ok? Hope you dont mind.

  • I seen some groups put it in the crow's nest. If it explodes its far enough away from the main hull and above the water line to do any lasting damage.

  • The only ‘safe’ place for barrels is in your crows nest. Its not often you can sink a ship with the eye of reach alone, but you certainly invite it.

  • @james-dinh Lol, you obviously haven't played the game. That's by far the best place to store it.

So far that seems like the only place on the ship where it won't sink you. I love when people store their gunpowder in range of their hull like this guy so I don't have to waste cannonballs sinking them.

  • As @SolidSnakeMig said: the crows nest is the only place on the ship where the blast radius doesn't affect the hull.
A drawback is the time required to get a barrel down for selling or planting a mine.

  • Except, you want them stacked all the way out on the tip. That way if they explode they don't do any damage to your hull.

  • My friends and I normally use the mast. It is high enough that the explosion radius doesn't hit the hull. Additionally, pirates don't normally aim up there so we have two guys hidden in the crows nest on the first approach/pass who hop off with barrels to sabotage the enemy ship. Both try to go for the lowest area of the hull, but if they can't both make it, one hits lowest, one hits lower.

Even got a witty name for those selected for it, "The Boom Brothers" (joke off of the Boo Brothers' name from "Scooby Doo Meets the Boo Brothers")

  • @james-dinh You need to play solo more. It's the best place in 50% of situations and second best place in 49% of situations. The other 1% is when a player has eye of reach and your ship is stationary...then it's not even the worst, maybe 3rd best.

@papasohan as far as I know, the sprit isnt long enough for that. But I could be wrong.

I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about, but I use the crows nest solo and grouped (never had anyone target my crow's nest barrels). When I can see barrels on the enemy ship I sink them with a few pistol shots.

  • Well, I was hoping that when I rammed a ship they would explode but they didn't so I had to ram a ship again and immediately shoot the barrels with a pistol! Yarrrr!

Why climb down? Jump from the crows nest with the gunpowder barrel into the water when you are ready to attack.

Climbing down with the barrel if you are on a sloop and just want to mess up your attackers or if someone hunts you. You are way more flexible if you stay on your ship. To sell them just jumping into the water is an easy and quick way to do things, i agree.
