Lets Make Sea Of Thives Chivalrous Again!

  • Hello my fellow sea dog! I am here to day to talk to you about being a bit more Chivalrous on the sea! Now this dose not mean you should go out and start trying to be nice and start trying to party with each ship you see i'm just saying we should try to be a bit more Honorable on the sea's so hears my ideas on how to be a righteous pirate!

    • Don't bully the sloop's there small and break easy so gallons pleas go after the other gallons unless that Sloop's trying to fight you or is just being rude then just run them down.
    • Pleas when you die don't just run all the way back just to kill the same ship once maby. twice OK! three too six times ITS TIME TO STOP! so pleas just die maby twice then call it off there.
    • Sloop's when you see a gallon maby you try to bargain with it maby they can hold there word and you can help them do a raid and get a share of the treasure who knows it might inspire bigger boat fights too! But this dose not mean you are weak it just means gallons have a four man crew and the usual crew for a sloop is two!
    • All High level sea dogs and ladies PLEAS let the low levels grow by not taking there stuff maby when you see a guy in rags maby you could spare a chest or two to help level them! Who knows some day they might just see your ship in trouble and come help you!
    • Play fair all ways! Don't be a baby who uses cheats like money glitches or using the bad AI tracking to one man a fort just do what every one else dose PLAY FAIRLY AND GROW NORMALLY!

This only a few of my thoughts on how you two can be Chivalrous! May the wind all ways favor you and the skies all ways be clear! Ps: i will be adding more to this list later on!

  • I'd certainly be willing to do so. Already try to abstain from needless attacks as it is. Even have helped random players by diving into shipwrecks for them.

  • @i-am-vengens na. I’d rather kill people. My Admiral Blunderbuss can’t just sit here and look shiny in a corner.

  • I don't care about sloops there the ones that are usually doing the attacking.. Also what pirate gives there gold away.... post is daft.

  • This game will need an influx of PvE content to take some of the pressure off PvP. Don’t get me wrong, I love the open PvP element to this game, but some PvE targets will in my opinion help. I have recommended ports and merchant, pirates, and bounty hunter shipping. I know Rare said they are against this but I think to give the game more life and content, they will need to compromise on this.

  • Man, you guys are just making things only easier for us.

Sloops are the strongest ship in the game.

Until Rare fixes the spawn I will go back until I get what I want or run out of the will to continue.

Always shoot first. It's kill or be killed and nothing feels better than sinking a four man crew in a sloop.

I will never ever see any crew I help or kill again, unless I friend them and invite them to my crew. Never. Ever. Will I see them. Again.

    • Play fair all ways! Don't be a baby who uses cheats like money glitches or using the bad AI tracking to one man a fort just do what every one else dose PLAY FAIRLY AND GROW NORMALLY!

I have better luck one manning forts than I do doing it with groups, usually due to the time of day(early mornings). Abusing AI tracking is the devs problem, not players.

  • After sinking a new crew at the docks, leave one of the three cages on the dock and sail off with the other two as a good will gesture.

If you sink someone later with a ton of treasure, you can leave a few spare cages where their ship sunk so they get their hopes up when sailing back to see if there is any loot left.

  • Best of luck with that,
here on the forums it seems when someone talks of Kindness or Choices and Options in the game it is responded to by insults, and told "This is a Pirate Game", "its PvP way or leave"

We shall see how many folks like you will be able to put up with that mentality.

    I'm done.

    Good Luck Rare

  • @echodoctrine Do not take hesitance for weakness, for as my family's motto goes "Victory by a steady hand." If victory is achievable through peace, then let it be so. If not, then make them regret their decisions.

  • @i-am-vengens YAY lets teach this loser that his ideas are lame lets strap him to the bow of his ship and after were done lets have Danny devito be his ship mate HAHAHA!
I jest! Thank you all for the feed back you may play how you want to play i will try to be a nicer player in my eyes by following these ideals.

    -sincerely i am vengens

  • Wait wait wait....
Sloops: dont run from galleons OR try and fight them?

This whole post just sounds like you whining for people to stop taking your stuff really... get over it.

  • If I have a well stocked ship and I'm about to log out I try to find someone to give my balls, planks, and bananas before I go.

  • @blackenedred-sg
See thats the kind of thing im talking about im not saying you should b*******r for a gallon becase your a sloop sometimes you need to run or fight all im saying is some times there another way to settle things. but just by handing over you supplies when your leaving could be good enough to help some people have a better day! PS: DANG are skull forts CRAZY and fun!

I actually do this as well, but its hard sometimes to get people to believe you. Once i got ship laden with treasure to pull in to an outpost and uload with me just a few feet away.

I told them they should probably never do that again.

  • I love the way this post assumes that Sloops are in some way vulnerable or unable to defend themselves from a Galleon.

  • @ersatz-nihilist I have seen many a galleon sunk by a sloop :)

  • @mattydove74
with some of the feed back i have changed the sloops part because people were saying that i thought the sloops were weak which i did not intend the thing is that most sloops are either a one man or a two man which against a good four crew is hard to defeat.

  • I've taken down many galleons while duoing a skull fort and have also been taken down in a galleon a few times by a sloop as well. I treat all ships equally, if I see you have lots of loot I can't promise my covetous crew and I will leave you be.

No. When I am on a sloop or galleon, I would much more prefer to engage a galleon with a good crew over a sloop with a good crew. The sloop is very hard to hit because it is more maneuverable and everything is so close together.

  • @i-am-vengens I agree with you, i'm already playing carefully and in a defensive way.
But as you see in the comments: some people don't care for other players, let's see how this kids grow up with this attitude.

  • @i-am-vengens I agree to some of your points and respect the sentiment.

I have a growing personal pirate code, which admittedly I haven't always followed, but I'm trying! Guidelines and all that. This is generally only solo/duo play, as with a crew I will change it to suit the will of my crew.

I generally adhere to honour amongst thieves.

I will play nice if it's mutually beneficial, or if I am in the mood.

My word is my honour, if I say I won't attack you, then I won't, unless provoked. However what I say may be open to interpretation ;)

If you open yourself up to an attack and it's advantageous, I will take advantage. I may give you a quick death, but I will not grief you, or bully you or go out of my way to make your experience a poor one. Well outside of losing some treasure that is.

The only exception to this may be a little respawn kill to make sure your boat sinks, but nothing more than is necessary.

I'm starting to think that a time limit of 15 - 20 minutes is in order for a chase, I will start to disengage if I can't catch you within that time.

If you stay clear of me I will leave you be, otherwise you must approach in a non-threatening manner and I will respect parlay. If I do not want to talk, I will move on, and take any attempts at following me as an aggressive act.

If you are new, then let me know and it will be taken into consideration if it is not at first obvious. I respect that new players need time to develop the skills on the sea, but if you fire your cannon at me all bets are off. I don't assume rags or lanterns on as == a new player.

  • @i-am-vengens I really appreciate this post! This game is meant to be pirates sure, yet that doesn't mean ruining the game for other users. This game could be so much better if we got along for the most part and trusting more players. The game should create a ai ship that eventually attacks you after you kill too many ships in a server so that people can't simply grief all the time. Yet that also destroys the PvP part. Just being more polite to others would go a long way. Also don't camp outposts! I have yet to run into a single friendly crew.

  • It’s Sea of Thieves not Hello Kitty’s sailing adventure. If myself and my crew think you have loot you best be sure we are gonna sail straight thru that storm to come at you. Sloop, galleon or kraken we don’t care what you’re sailing. Yes we tend to bite off more than we can chew but occasionally the risk pays off. Sailing straight at a galleon in sloop seems to throw people off just enough to make a glorious getaway.

  • @weepingxxangels If the game was more like how Pirates of the Caribbean Online was, I believe the game would be one of the most successful games out there.

  • As much as I do understand the need for this post and arrangements like this, this will not be possible until we have a colour code with the flags.
Which means we also need flags.
