JJBlackhat has an IDEA - Trolling/Throwing Loot off the Boat

  • Haha, so I realize I have earned myself an incredible reputation around these parts with my posts such as 'be more pirate' for all of you pvp players who's tears are filling the seas of thieves :p

But I do have an valid idea for 'trolling' crews loot off the back of the boat because you think it's cool to do. Here is my system... ready for it...

    BE MORE PIRATE... just kidding.

Okay, so I think a loot 'room' or 'bin' needs to be implemented on the boats that allow you to store your chests, and other valuables in. Only one player can hold the key on a VOTE system. The Key will unlock the room or bin to access the loot, but ... when another pirate boards the ship to steal the loot, that player has to kill the player with the Key - but does NOT know who the player is who has the key, and only by this 'key master' dying does a player actually get the key off of a drop to be able to open the room to access the loot.

This will build an interesting PvP system on boats trying to protect the loot, and those trying to steal it all while preventing the trolls from totally ruining your day with the loot.

    Thoughts?

    Recap:

    1. Appoint Key Master by Vote System
    2. Kill Key Master to obtain the Key
    3. Only the Key unlocks the Bin (Sloop) or Closet/Room (Gall)*

(create a cool down period between changing 'key masters' so the system can't be abused)

  • @jjblackhat Hmm.....maybe now there's finally a reason for a sloop to have a brig? l**o

  • Blackbeard Lufy thinks that's an overly complicated system. Furthermore, Blackbeard Lufy is confident that loot griefing would go away just by giving us the option to make groups 'invite only'.

  • I found an exploit!

Key bearer maroons themselves on an island while crew sails to outpost. As they approach, crew lets key bearer know in crew chat. Key bearer swims to mermaid and spawns on ship as it reaches outpost.

  • @oneeyed-w1lliam You'll drop the key if you mermaid though. We do this with fort keys, but the 3 still on ship will come back and pick up the key bearer after whomever is chasing them is dealt with.

I wouldn't call that an exploit, that's no different than having different people with different parts of a code (irl).
While no one could steal your treasure until that keybearer was found, neither could your crew turn it in until that keybearer revealed themselves.

Not necessarily. If the attackers aren't supposed to know who holds the key, then it becomes an inventory wheel item like banana or planks etc., so you can still have it on you when mermaiding.

The exploit part was a rip on all the exploit posters lately, lol

  • I should stress the system above has nothing to do with anyone's PvP woes.

This will enhance your woes but make us PvP'rs a lot more happier :)

This would not be a 'visible' key you hold, you'd still be able to hold stuff in your hands, you'd just 'drop' it when dying so others could retrieve it.

    Hm?

  • And what if we sink said boat? Are you suggesting we can't get your loot if we sink you?

  • No, the actual system is perfect, it looks like you guys are always looking fixes for things that work perfectly. With so many broken things in the game we don't need the devs waste time in things that work.

  • Not only is this a good fix, but provides more variety and fun to gameplay, and would change nothing for people who don’t want to use the option for whatever reason. The key holder shouldn’t be able to use the mermaid at all, Making them a vip of sorts, and possibly with helmsman taking up the role most often. This not only give the brig a use but is among many things that could be easily added to help the games lack of content.
