I had this idea and I want to hear others opinions on it.
I feel so many people tend to go heavy on pvp because there is an incentive. There isn’t a comprible incentive to team up. I think this idea of a contract between crews could change that.
A contract could be proposed on another ships captain table. It would take a 75% majority to enact (3 out of 4) (6 of 8) (5 of 6). Once passed, the contract would be on both boats captains table’s just like a voyage. Crews would split rewarded gold 50-50. (I’m open to being split in proportion to crew size, but since that can be fluid as people leave, 50-50 is simpler). You also can’t damage players on your contract crew.
Contracts could be broken. Just like cancelling voyages, you could vote to tear your contract. It would take majority vote from your crew, but once you tear your contract you’d get the Black Spot debuff. For 2 hours you would take double damage from all sources (falling, pvp, pve, etc.) This would be persistent even if you left and joined another game because it’d be linked to your gamertag. This would allow you to get the element of surprise on the crew you betrayed, but at a high cost.
I think this lets you play in a new way, giving an incentive to teamwork that is hard to do now while still letting you be a backstabbing pirate if you wish. Adding the Black Spot pirate trope is a bonus. What do you think, mates?
