This is a BIG issue for me, my friends and I do not start playing at the same time. It could be a difference of over an hour. Nothing is more annoying than to leave in a middle of a voyage and start over so that you could play with your friends. Or waiting for your friends to finish (cash in) their voyage so you could all start an adventure together.

@johnson-carl. I agree, if we get enough posts of this maybe Rare will be put to the top of the list.
@g0r1lla-munch I have to assume you are playing on Windows10, because this is actually something you can do; you just have to do it through the xbox app. If you go to the xbox app, right-click on the friend you want to join, then click 'Invite to play Sea of Thieves'. They should get an invite just like normal.
@cm-seff But what if you're playing Solo? Then you have to switch servers and abandon your voyages, etc.
i think that they should add the option to save spot. since we dont want to make it so every game people get kicked out on maby once you join a game and have your own ship you can set it to allow a hold option for additional crew member. this way people are not abusing the mechanics of the brig. and can hold the player position till the intended player gets in game and not have to worry about people joining
@cm-seff, im on xbox. Tried many times to "invite to join game"a friend, within xbox but the option is grayed out. Same goes for "join game" when i am not in.
@johnson-carl Fair point. I don't know what happens if you set sail as solo, then invite a friend to join later. I assume you've tried it and it does cause you to switch servers; in which case, I absolutely agree that it is something that needs to be addressed. However, I don't think this is the biggest issue right now.
I consider the biggest issue to be the people camping outpost islands and having 1 member of their crew suicide onto sloops with gunpowder barrels, thereby killing the crew and sinking the sloop, so that the rest of their crew can collect whatever loot the now-dead crew was bringing back.
@cm-seff Well that is another discussion not for this topic, but there's so many problems... Anyway, yes at least for me the Xbox app will track if you have any windows open for a crew member, if there's not then you just can't invite anyone to your game.
@g0r1lla-munch Are both you and your friend set to "Appear Online"? Because that's the only time I've seen such options grayed-out. I am on Win10 though, and do not have an Xbox, so I can't test that this issue.
@johnson-carl @G0R1LLA-MUNCH Okay, that makes more sense. I almost always start with a 2 person sloop, rather than the solo. I was unaware that you couldn't invite people on the solo craft. My apologies.
@g0r1lla-munch They where working on it and I think this is such a key thing it must have a high priority. I have been in the same situation and the wait/ making others wait sucks.
@g0r1lla-munch I guess? I haven't used the iPad. All I know is you can't go from Solo to 2 man and 3 man to 4 man once you select what type of crew you want in the main menu.
@johnson-carl In the main menu, i have no issues. It's while I am on the seas.
Maybe Rare should compare to games like battlefield, I would love to playwith friends and my groups on a server. We could battle it out between each other and have fun adventures. AND adjust parameters in the server to our liking@g0r1lla-munch said in Please allow friends join games already in progress.:
@cm-seff I never see ships! Maybe seen 12 since the original beta
Really?? Just last night I was involved in a 5 way battle with 2 other galleons and 2 sloops! WAS INSANE! Wasn't at a raid or anything either, we just all were in the same area at the same time, quite spectacular. After we sunk everyone we could, there was us and another galleon left. After multiple boarding attempts by both crews due to no more supplies, we decided to drink grog and all dance to a nice shanty. Was good times :)
@lord-sphinktus I would say the matchmaking doesn't care a whole lot what kind of crew you are. I still run into galleons and sloops no matter what size crew I am. I especially run into 2 man crews, but then again I did see the statistic of the most players being in 2 man crews.

I should have stressed it TRIES to sort solos and groups, isn't always perfect.
