(Content Series) Part 1: More Melee Weapons and How They'd Work

  • Introducing new weapons to Sea of Thieves would be great for the unique experience of the game as it would offer more variety in the currently samey gameplay. That said, the cutlass would need a bit of an overhaul to allow these weapons to fit in as well.

    Cutlass

    Advantages- None
    Downsides- None
    Charge Attack- Charges forward with a powerful thrust.

    Scimitar
    Speed- 2/5
    Damage- 4/5
    Forward Reach- 3/5
    Wide Reach- 4/5
    Combo- 3
    Movement Penalty- Medium
    Advantages- Can perform a sprinting attack, aerial attacks deal more damage.
    Downsides- Takes more damage through blocking.
    Charge Attack- Leaps into the air and slashes downward.

    Dagger
    Speed- 5/5
    Damage- 1/5
    Forward Reach- 1/5
    Wide Reach- 2/5
    Combo- 5
    Movement Penalty- Smallest
    Advantages- Capable of dodging with the block button, deals more damage from behind.
    Downsides- Cannot block.
    Charge Attack- Dashes forward and does a flurry of quick thrusts.

    Rapier
    Speed- 4/5
    Damage- 2/5
    Forward Reach- 4/5
    Wide Reach- 1/5
    Combo- 4
    Movement Penalty- Small
    Advantages- Capable of parrying with the block button to stun foes briefly, can land "headshot" damage.
    Downsides- Cannot block.
    Charge Attack- Draws back and rotates the sword once before doing a powerful thrust. The rotation can auto-parry.

    Boarding Axe
    Speed- 1/5
    Damage- 5/5
    Forward Reach- 3/5
    Wide Reach- 2/5
    Combo- 2
    Movement Penalty- Large
    Advantages- Able to break wooden planks, able to use while climbing.
    Downsides- Slow to block.
    Charge Attack- Wields the axe with both hands and does an uppercut swing.

    Boarding Pike
    Speed- 3/5
    Damage- 3/5
    Forward Reach- 5/5
    Wide Reach- 1/5
    Combo- 3
    Movement Penalty- Medium
    Advantages- Can land "headshot" damage, full circle charge attack.
    Disadvantages- Most lag after a charge attack.
    Charge Attack- Takes a wide stance and twirls the pike to attack all sides.
