Haha so @Nattzz and I were playing a couple of days and somehow ended up with me stood on top of an outpost looking out to sea with my spyglass looking for fellow ships and she was circling in our sloop.
We spotted a sloop that looked in distress. It had been stationary a long time so I sent her in to investigate!
Upon interacting with the civilian it was clear they required assistance returning their sunken treasures to shore so Boat Patrol obliged as is our duty!
We assisted the civilian to shore and carried his sunken treasures to the nearest trader for him.
Now another duty of Boat Patrol is to ensure every pirate/merchants paper work is in order. Upon boarding a vessel on a routine inspection I encountered a pirate who willingly displayed his paper work to me showing he was on a legitmate voyage that met with maritime regulations, so we allowed him on his way.
Unfortunately not all those on the seas respect the duties Boat Patrol must partake in and we did encounter difficulties with a crew who perceived Boat Patrol as a threat and would only communicate with violence. We did our upmost to fulfill our duties as Boat Patrol but it was futile. We just needed to ensure their vessel was sea worthy before allowing them to be on their way!
Here is a plea that if you encounter a Boat Patrol inspector. We will conduct the required duties and be on our way. Anyone who wishes to join Boat Patrol please contact me as we need new recruits to ensure paperwork is in order. We seem to keep losing members to pesky pirates!

To those wondering what I’m going on about this is a genuine tale from a session where we spent 2 hours just sailing round in our new favorite personas of “Boat Patrol”.
It was a hilarious session for us and could have only been better if all had played along, but alas not everyone is willing and see us as a threat.If you happen to see myself and @Nattzz on the sea and we are screaming “Boat Patrol inspection!” At you in game chat just show us your map so we can make sure your paperwork is in order and all should be well 😉
I just wanted to share this tale to show the game isn’t all about grinding for gold and status and cosmetics. It’s possible to have a great time with a little imagination and a good friend 😊

I'm not sure if this is a wind up but it sounds like you've appointed yourself Judge Dredd of the seas. By all means play the game how you want, and I think it's great that you've found a way to make your own fun, but don't be surprised if not everyone wants to play along. I'm no expert on pirates, but I suspect they didn't take kindly to self-appointed autocrats.
I shall respect your non-combative game style as long as you don't try to board my galleon ;)
@luciansanchez82 Usually those without papers are the ones that kill us, for they know they wont pass inspection.
A simple vessel inspection can suffice, but we may also need to take you back to HQ for questioning
@tobyonekenobe You are reading far too much into a silly role playing game, but in seriousness, if you dont show us paperwork you certainly risk a slap on the wrist =D

We often sails toward a galleon hunting a sloop trying to help the sloop and sinking the galleon. And after we sunk this pirate s**m we sailed further showing the sloop crew that we son´t have any interest in their loot.

Couldn't agree more, there is no real genre for fun.
Oh, and just for future reference, if you buy the souls lantern and stand at the bow you can alternate the red Lantern on the boat with the blue one in your hand for a pretty decent police light display.

We will usually make ourselves known vocally and with a bell, yes. I have been known to fire myself from our "boarding devices" while shouting "HELLO THIS IS BOAT PATROL" as I fly over your vessel (my aim isnt what it was)

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee such great coverage, but over time we aim to grow Boat Patrol to allow the day to day merchant to feel safer on the seas!

@nattzz the irony is he just posts that he sinks ships all day and should be paid for doing so regardless if they have no loot on board and its a pirates game and he is you know being a pirate and doing what pirates did so technically he is "roleplaying" lol
