Framerate REALLY low after new update.

  • So, yesterday I didn’t get to play SoT because Game Pass glitched our (I called Microsoft Support and that’s what they told me). I got to play this morning and I was really surprised by how low the FPS was. It felt really choppy and was at what I’m guessing 18-20 FPS. I don’t know if it’s just me. Has this happened to anybody else? (I’m on original Xbox One)

  • @darealpastrami YES!! The game post patch looks and runs worse. I’m on XB-X

  • I have the same, on PC. Geforce 1080. Game was a great 75-95 fps (I have a 95 Hz 3k display) on Mythical, on anything lower, solid 95 all the time.

    Now after the "patch..."

... especially on islands, or when looking out of the ship at certain angles, even at "Rare" and "Legendary" settings, I get massive frame rate dips, into the low 30s.

This didn't occur later at night, but it was terrible earlier. I suspect it may be something NOT related to the graphics themselves, as the game keeps returning to high fps in similar situations just minutes later.

Something is leeching CPU/GPU performance, hard.

I updated all drivers etc. pro-forma, didn't change anything. My system is quite well maintained.

  • @thygrrr wait, you get 75+ FPS? im locked at 60. w*f

    Turn off V-sync.

  • @hiyall1 I have a 95 Hz screen.

Without VSYNC I get 120 fps or whatever I set the frame rate cap to, but with lots of tearing, also a problem - the game doesn't seem to support nVidia G-SYNC.

  • @vavume i dont think i saw that option but i could check. my monitor is 144hz so that isnt a problem

  • @hiyall1 the game uses your desktop refresh rate.

  • @thygrrr i turned it off and getting about 90 fps average but a lot of screen tearing. ill just leave v sync on

  • @hiyall1 check your desktop refresh rate. :) That often defaults to 60 even if your games don't.

  • @thygrrr it was at 59. i didnt know about that. i set it to 144. would this help with tearing?

  • @thygrrr "Something is leeching CPU/GPU performance, hard."

having the same problem myself, less powerful systems, but i run all of my steam games at an average 60 fps, even the ones with fancy graphics...

I get 60 fps on rare quality and below, and FPS drops go down to 20... I've set my graphics to legendary because consistent 30 fps is better than inconsistent 60-20 fps based on what direction i'm looking, lol.

Please vote OP's post up guys so rare can have a look at this issue! Thanks! :)

  • It seems to have gone away now.
