Please add Dual wielding and bigger two-handed swords

  • Because of the 2 weapon slots, you basicly only choose 1 sword and 1 ranged weapon. Because im not a gun person. I would love to see equiping two swords (or one dagger) with one in each hand. And offcourse people can equip two pistols. What should be balanced offourse. (longer reload times and no scoping)
So basicly dual wield every onehanded weapon.
This gives you also more playstyle options

Maybe even lock this abiltity behind some kind of level or special weapon vendor quest?

  • This isnt Sea of Duty: Flintlock Warfare. Go somewhere else.

  • @ghost-0f-dawn Why? It's normal for pirates to wear two swords or guns? Can you elaborate more why not?

  • @cypherius-nl Explain how "It's normal for pirates to carry two." Its normal because you watched Pirates of the Caribbean? Or were you a pirate? This is about game balance plain and simple. There's no place for more than one sword in hand and certainly not two guns. The guns are already far more primary than they should be.

  • @ghost-0f-dawn Who would have thought that in the age of gunpowder guns are more primary than swords?

  • @ghost-0f-dawn Maybe having two guns for being able to land 2 shots before reloading, why not setting a longer reload on them) , to me it's a good idea! And i got the feeling that the swords are a bit weak but that's just me ^^

  • @ghost-0f-dawn Why can't it be balanced? And why the slightly agressive tone in your messages? I'm simply speaking my mind what i like to so see. You can not agree on it and that is fine.

But to counter: Can you tell that pirates didn't use two swords or pistols? Or did they always walked with only two weapons and eat banana's all day?

  • @crusaderjesus Who would have thought in the age of game development game balance was important?

  • @ghost-0f-dawn Nice try, I'm not supporting the topic. I just corrected you.

  • @ghost-0f-dawn It can be easily balanced, with like longer reload or lack of precision!

  • @cypherius-nl Due to the nature of sea fairing and going about in a ship a two-handed sword or dual wielding weapons was usually unpractical. I'm aware that the game is not totally accurate but they are trying. I'm all about the coolness of dual weapons but in case of flintlock guns it's impossible.

  • @ghost-0f-dawn Balance is easy. Example: reloading two guns taks way longer. Two sword can drain your stamina (just like the charge attack) and you cannot use the charge attack.

  • @cypherius-nl Anyone who says game balance is easy does not have an understanding of game balance.

  • @ajarcher21 Why not? Maybe carrying one on the belt and one on the hand and then reload both! Because if we worry about how having 2 guns is unbalanced and unhistorical, maybe we should increase the canon reload time...

  • @ghost-0f-dawn And guess you have a problemen communicating is a respectfull way. Instead of saying just NO! Balance! YOu guys don't understand!

Be more respectfull and constructive by explaning why you think it is unbalanced and why (according to you, we don't get it) Just try to be a little bit more open minded about other people suggestions. Ok? Kiss ;)

  • @cypherius-nl thanks dad

  • @cypherius-nl Just found this article http://www.thewayofthepirates.com/pirate-weapons/pirate-pistols/ and apparently they didn't carry the guns in the two hands but had more than one loaded at the same time :) Maybe it's will fit better in the game that way!

  • @ghost-0f-dawn Really!? Looking at your level of anwsers. I can probably be. So go to your room now and no internet time for you today!

  • @lord-isaak Ok look this is a fair anwser. So dual wield pistols would not be historically correct. (As with a lot of other things in the game ahem... Eye of reach...aka sniper) Still it would look awesome.

  • @cypherius-nl I would like to see some fearsome pirates walking around with their gun on their belt or maybe on the chest ^^ even just as a cosmetic item )

  • @lord-isaak Yeah would be cool if you can see someones equipment when holsterd. Just like in The Division

And where do you keep all those banana's ;)

  • @lord-isaak I have no problem with unbalanced, but it's just unpractical due to gravity. But hey... I'm not picking a fight, just giving an opinion.

This. If game balance were easy (or lucrative), there wouldn't be such a huge issue with game balance in 98% of competitive multiplayer games.

  • @cypherius-nl I agree for the holstered weapons!
And concerning the banana... that's my little secret ;)

@AJArcher21 No worries we are here to discuss not fight ^^ but i don't understand what you mean by unpractical :/

  • @lord-isaak Think about the nature of the flintlock gun, you need to keep the barrel raised up or the pellet will fall out, the same if it is on the belt, it's just a cool looking decoration. So to load two is a bit of a hassle.

As for the swords, if we are talking about a cutlass in one hand and a dagger on the other, I'm in! ;)

  • @ajarcher21 I think that if they used it for real there wasn't that risk or they countered it, but how? this is a mystery for me :/

  • @lord-isaak They were unreliable, the barrels blew up, it was a spare on most cases for when they lost one.

  • @lord-isaak sagte in Please add Dual wielding and bigger two-handed swords:

And concerning the banana... that's my little secret ;)

Hahaha, thanks, got my coffee all over the place now. 😂🙈

  • @shralla Offcourse. Balance in everygame is difficult Played a ton off The Division so dont get me started. But even Massive got it to "work" (oke somethings better than others) somehow.

So there is no reason why Rare cannot balance things. Even if it is hard or not.

Well Shooting under water would also be a problem with these weapons dont you think? :)

We should keep reality and fantasy separated. We just want a cool experience. So what if things cannot be possible IRL

  • @cypherius-nl Wait... you can shoot underwater? I've been using my cutlass against sharks all this time when I could have just shot them?

  • @Shralla Plus i don't think the lucrative side you mentionned is a problem here when you know how the dev want the game to be (a funny mess with friend without loot box and cancer pvp, mainly exploration from what i eard). Without mentionning that the weapons we talk about look like they can easily be balanced )

  • If there's something that should be added as a melee weapon it would be the short spear.
A big 2 handed sword wouldn't work on a ship, and dual wield would just be stupid historical wise.

The way most pirates used to fight was shoot once, grab your sword or use the gun as a melee weapon, that's why they have such beautiful designs, they are there to kill people in every way imaginable.

  • @ajarcher21 They like Explosive barrels to. "Smile, you son of a b***" (That is a Jaws quote btw.)

  • @evildutchrebel

I don't think we should take this historical wise to serious. There are a "lot" of things (Skeletons, Eye of Reach, Kraken, Skull Clouds, Shooting under water, etc...) that won't fit that discription in the game already. It all comes down to a fun Pirate experience.
