Can’t dropcrates, or skull, or chests.

Hello,
Once I pick up an item that requires carrying, like a chest, crate or skull, I can’t drop it. (Xbox one version) I have hit the x button. I have remapped the buttons and tried that. They only way to abandon the object is to commit suicide off the crows nest. Any word on how to fix this. I have reinstalled once and am going to try again.
Any help would be appreciated.
