First and foremost I have always wanted a great pirate game. The overall look and feel of the game is beautiful and its great!!
That being said there are definitely a few suggestions I have that could make or break this game. I have 3 friends pending buying this game now as they have watched close and so far there has been more negative than positive which is heartbreaking.
1.) Add in gameplay options outside of pure "pirating". Things such as fishing (merchant could easily want fish), bar games, drunken bar brawls, etc.
2.) I get that its useful to hold lots of cannonballs, but lets look on the realistic side. 10 cannonballs vs 5 single bananas. Heck you could put a whole bundle of bananas on your back. Having to restock your ship 5 at a time is crazy let alone the weight difference.
3.) Griefing vs Pirating is a big topic. I have been on both ends of the spectrum to spending an hour gathering stuff to someone coming to sink my boat and have no interest in rewards, or joining on a ship to get voted in a brig for now reason at all but to grief right when I joined. I am not sure how to address this properly as there still needs to be a pirate aspect, but people who do these aspects just to bully other players really ruins a games value.
4.) Outposts I feel should have a sense of safety for some, but not all. Example if its a neutral outpost, it should not allow pirating anywhere in a given area by the outpost and will fire upon any ships trying it. Maybe have 2 outposts like this on the whole map, where the OTHER outposts are open regardless. This way players who want a safe option could travel longer, but be ensured they wont spawn and get ganked instantly.
5.) Hacking is in the game and its getting bad fast. I am pretty certain I have experienced it first hand, and its no joke you can find it all over the Internet and Youtube. This needs fixed ASAP and brings out the worst gamers.
Overall I mostly play on a 2 person Sloop (soon to be myself) as my friend I think is done. I WANT this game to succeed, but I feel it could use easily 6 months of content updates to allow more stuff to do and address the insane griefing issues.
I will continue to play it and try to gain gold for future updates, but so far solo has been unbearable. My experience trying to find a group for 2-3 days has been unbearable and filled with horrible rude people.
