  • no lol no need to divide the playerbase

  • Dude, It's healthy for the game. We all need to stick together.

  • STOP! Really STOP. From here out Microsoft's goal is to promote gamer's gaming how they want to game. That mean's enabling as many gamers as possible to play with one another. Have a friend on Xbox, but you play PC - CrossPlatform. Have a Player on Rocketleague or Fortnite - Play with them on PC or your console of choice.

The barriers that are keeping players from playing with who they want and how they want are being broken down. This is just the start, so please become forward thinking as this will happen more and more frequently. Learn to adjust and play with the rest of the world.

  • Fine. I'll start with a controller, then once on a controller only server I'll switch back to mouse and keyboard.

Or maybe I'll do both. When playing GTA V/Online, I use the mouse & keyboard except when flying or in a boat, then I use a controller.

Segregation is backwards thinking, the more players the better.

Most of these complaints are likely just RAGE after someone's been subject to a whipping. Oh no, I died, that guy MUST be using a mouse and keyboard. Even if he wasn't, that's what people are going to think because that's how our neurotic brains work.

  • Nah, but I would like the option to opt out of cross play servers like how Fortnite has it. We ran into a PC crew yesterday, and it was pretty obvious they were running some cheats.

In the end we won the battle for the fort, but because this games spawning is so bad, they spawned close to the fort and we were out of supplies. No point in fighting that fight when you don't have anything left and other players have auto aim. Felt like a loss when we actually won.

Who cares what Microsoft wants? Players just want a reasonably fair, balanced experience regardless of platform.

If crossplay can not provide that then there shouldn't be mandatory crossplay for that game.

No platform deserves a substandard experience just so there can be as big a playerbase as possible.

I think most players would prefer quality over quantity.

  • @zealousguardian As a gamer, I want to play with my friends. It does not matter how I play with them, I just want to! So to me, that means that they get to choose how they play PS4, Xbox, Switch, or PC and I get to choose my way.

Crossplay is providing that experience for me. That is what I want. I am a gamer therefore it is the best experience for me as a gamer.

There should be mandatory crossplay to break down this PC M*********e and Xbox vs PS4 fanboi argument that happens everywhere. Just let us play the game and enjoy it with everyone. Otherwise, it is all of us who lose. There need to be Pioneers in the industry who start these trends, RARE, MS and the Sea Of Thieves game is a perfect platform for it.

Every platform deserves a passionate fanbase that helps it become as big as it can be with AAA quality games.

I think push comes to shove most players want BOTH quality and quantity. They want a quality built game with a large player base that gives them a challenge and allows them the opportunity to be and beat the best.

I respect what you have said there but it's a little idealistic.

A key word you mentioned was "enjoy". That's pretty much everything when it comes down to it. Players just want to enjoy their game experience.

But enjoyment is not really a possibility when you know you are at a distinct disadvantage on your platform and that you will suffer repeatedly for it. Just have a look through some of the mouse versus controller threads.

It's crystal clear to those who have tried both platforms and control methods that being on PC using a mouse is advantageous and allows an easier time killing people.

I'm not against crossplay but it must be fairly implemented, that's all.

  • @zealousguardian You are right, it comes down to the enjoyment of the game. however, enjoyment is not an easy thing to support.

I hate GTA games, but I absolutely love Red Dead Redemption, same studio, very similar gameplay, but there is just a feeling about the game that makes it different. I have logged 250+ hours into a game called Dead By Daylight the competitor Friday the 13th, I hated.

In many games, enjoyment for people comes down to winning and losing. I hate to make it that shallow, but in reality, when a game has multiple sides it comes down to who wins (those having fun) to who loses (those who rarely have fun). I am not saying you cannot have fun on the opposite side, but too many people are conditioned to think this way in video games.

So this may or may not be true, that I believe you are not having fun because you feel that you are at a disadvantage (could lose) because a player is on a PC with a mouse and keyboard. For me, I look at it as a challenge. That player may be better because of equipment, but I am better for my thought process and capabilities than them. There will be 50% of the time I am wrong the other 50% I am right.

However, by segregating the community it hurts the game overall. It hurts the player base, it hurts the players who want to be the best, and it hurts the interaction of all players. I am willing to get killed by that 360 No Scope headshot for an enjoyable experience all around because I can play with others?

I think it just boils down to how you feel about the challenge. Is it enjoyable overall or is it because I really lost that last challenge?

  • @blackelite-id16 I don't think this is really necessary. The only time there is a distinct advantage PC has over controller is in the personal firearms, with the exception of the blunderbuss. Nearly all the meaningful PvP is either through cannons or the blunderbuss, so it frankly isn't worth it.
