The Legend of the Kraken - Guardian of Treasures

  • Hello,

I've been reading the forums since game launch and there seems to be a common theme revolving ship battles. It all boils down to one thing...a lot of effort and no reward. No risk of a gain, no thrill of a loss. Pirates are turning in treasures one at a time for measly coins and playing it safe. I propose a change in treasure selling.

    Treasure Lot Selling

    • The First Outpost is offering x4 Gold Multiplier if you turn in 4 Chests (1 x Captain's Chest, 2 Seafarer's Chest, 1 Chest of a Thousand Grogs, 1 Chest of Sorrow)
    • Multiplier Scale based on Distance: Furthest Outpost from your location is x4, Closest is x2.

This new mechanic will offer a tease to pirates. The hope that gathering these treasures and holding on to them will reap even bigger rewards. Enter the Kraken Guardian.

    Guardian of Treasures (Treasure insurance)

    • Tales speak of a Golden Kraken Amulet worth 1,000 Gold Coins. Lay this coin on top of your treasure and if your treasure ever sinks to the depths of the sea...a Kraken will guard your booty until you return to claim what is rightfully yours.
    • If a crew has sunken a ship containing treasure and this amulet they will first have to battle the Guardian Kraken in order to claim it. Once they defeat the Kraken they can then pick up the treasure and insure it using their own amulet.

I believe this idea could give ship battles more meaning and add an additional layer of thrill. Imagine a rival crew battling a Kraken, your Kraken in order to get your treasure. More importantly it can give players hope that not all is lost after your ship has sunk.
