PvE buffs?

  • So I know Rare doesn't want players to have an advantage over others but this game needs some kind of feeling of progression which comes from the basic gameplay changes.

What if there were items that gave buffs to PvE only?

Not a huge amount but a bit of a noticeable difference. And it's only PvE so when it comes to PvP it's just like any other cosmetic

E.g. a shovel that digs faster, factions give ability to run when holding their items that YOUR TEAM has discovered (excluding items with PvP capabilities and items you've stolen from someone), merchants grant faster animal capture, etc.

    Thoughts?

  • I agree that this game needs some sense of progression in the game and the PvE idea is probably the best way to solve this problem which Sea of Thieves is lacking. Another idea I had was that there could be boat upgrades which is a PvP buff in a way but Sea of Thieves needs to find a way that both they and their community is happy with to solve this sense of no progression.

  • @oogaballooga on the topic of boats - a potential purchasable upgrade to our ships could be a row boat allowing for the faster transport of goods.

We also need more ship options, something in between a sloop and galleon would be great. I play in a group of 3 and the galleon is too big (feels more like a 6 person crew would be better). We all kind of have a hatred for it and hesitate to play in that size group because we are stuck with that ship.

  • @alavna91 I really like that rowboat idea, and other upgrades could be adding the amount of cannons each side of your boat. I also have a group of guys and we all prefer the sloop over the galleon, a hybrid of those two for a group of 3-4 would also be another great idea that hopefully Sea of Thieves creates in an upcoming update.

  • I get the "no advantage in PvP" but this would be great to have items that change up the PvE aspect. Even a glowing sword that lets you attack Shadow skeletons would be great -- and you could only get it by unlocking Order of Souls reputation.

I don't see how a 10% increase on dig speed for a shovel would ruin the core game philosophy...
