This needs to be fixed, if you join solo, you should only play against other people solo. I just spent 1 hour at a Skull Fortress, 7-8 waves of skeletons... Galleon of doom with 4 pirates sails in and its over for me. Thats just bullsh*t.... Im so glad i could play this game for free (14 days trial of Xbox Game Pass). I will not buy this game untill they make this game solo friendly. Anyone else agrees ?
Playing Solo is WORTHLESS!

No. Solo is hard mode. Don't complain the game is too hard for you, team up with others for forts or do stuff that is more suited to your skills.
@brittmar1e Nah. I don't agree. Taking on a skull fortress may not be practical for a solo player but that is about the only content they can't excel at.
@brittmar1e sagte in Playing Solo is WORTHLESS!:
@x1-two Are you for real? haha... To hard? There is no chance to do the ingame content if you play solo and Galleon of 2 or more crew members comes at you. They out run you, they sink you faster, they can repair, attack and sail away. "Too hard" yeah right, impossible mate.
There's enough people that have soloed a fort successfully while engaging one or two galleons. Don't give me that "nah, I'm capable of doing it" attitude when you are obviously not. Get better at the game and you can do it. You just want the win given to you.

How about when Galleons out sail you and there is no way to get away from them? :p I've played alpha/beta/scale tests etc and its a fun game. But its not a solo friendly game and that kinda sucks, imho!

Sloops are faster against the wind. So you don't know a lot about the game mechanics. Learn them, then you can complain, but not now because you didn't use the tools you have to your advantage.
@brittmar1e I don't spend much time playing solo but I've gotten away from galleons before.
Galleons are faster, sloops are more maneuverable. If you are trying to outrun a galleon in a sloop you will lose. If you take tight turns between and around rocks, you can get away.@x1-two said in Playing Solo is WORTHLESS!:

Wow you dont know what you are talking about haha... If someone solos 2 galleons at a skull fortess, those guys must be bots or 6 year olds playing. How can i stop 1 guy shooting cannons at my ship, 1 guy rushing me and 1 guy on my ship ? You cant be at 3 locations at the same time m8. And the win given to me ? haha no words, just stop replying if you gonna be a [mod edited] please.
Here's an easy move to escape chasing galleon.
Get ship to follow you with wind, turn wheel 180'', then drop anchor. As soon as anchor touches pull anchor and run to wheel and straighten boat. You should be going into the wind with galleon going the other way. Also. Irt helps if you raise anchor while facing wheel. Practice it.@brittmar1e They should never get on your ship to begin with. Don't pretend it's too hard to solo a galleon, there's thousands of people that do it. Yes, it's hard. As it should be, the game is meant to be played as a team, not solo. But it's not too hard.
I did help another solo player finish a fort once and we just split the treasure. But it took its good time even with two players and it's just so much more easy to do forts with a galleon crew, even a random one from match making. So when I'm solo slooping I just enjoy the graphics and collect some captain chests from trader voyages.
So playing solo is not worthless, you just have to know your limitations and act accordingly and for me that's just not bothering with forts where two galleons could turn up any minute.

I would argue its very worthless when you can't even log in and get to your boat, drop sails and raise anchor without being shot at and you boat sinking at the dock. Every time I have logged in the last few days I haven't even been able to get off the freaking outposts. So I would argue that to me at least it seems extremely worthless
The main issue here is Griefers. I get it, it's called Sea of Thieves, but there's a limit. I literally just had an hour's worth of Voyages taken without any reason. Another crew just sailed up, blew my ship to timbers, and jacked the 5 bounty skulls I had. I expect someone to at least buy me a drink first before I'm expected to just take it like that.

Because i'm enjoying sinking other galleons on 1-2 MAN sloop ! And stealing all of their loot !
Yeah sometimes they got loot from me but i'm learning on my mistakes - because i'm PIRATE !I disagree... its definitely hard or sometimes even hardcore.
But that is what makes it fun... I was followed by a gallon for a long while, then I saw another galleon... I consider myself a matchmaker now... And sailed off the sunset. Plenty of similar stores with red sea, shipwreck bay, gunpowder, dropping anchors...
@sanni me and my buddy does it in a sloop pretty easily and we have protected our sloop and chased off galleons and sloops while completing it. I havent done it solo yet but its something i wanna try. I was dc'd when the captain spawned and another player showed up. So other than that its possible.
Im thinking of sinking my ship but my method so far was to use my ship. However if you got the key you can hide it somewhere until threats are gone. That way only you have the key to the fort. Yes its very difficult and requires a good strategy but its still possible.@Rare-Employee please add a option so a solo sloop can invite a friend without logging out. Sometimes im playing solo while i wait for a friend to get on. Whenever i log out i lose everything. Including my active journey, and animal pens if i have any.
@hifi74 sorry there is no way this is true,i play solo and put so many hours into this game not once have i been killed as i spawn in never
@brittmar1e how long is it ago? cause we sunk yesterday a slooop,n the raid was done in 5 - 10 minutes 1or 2 waves.
yes was thinkin about how long that player fightet against that waves, hope it wasnt u cause alone its a lot of work. the only rule i made for me is,dont attack players at the outpost.@b14zzin5w0rd38 said in Playing Solo is WORTHLESS!:

First those aren't griefers, those are other players. Pirates. Secondly they had a perfect reason. Those skulls. They weren't yours, they're not even theirs. They belong to everyone and no one. Not until the moment they are handed in. Up to that point they are treasure ripe for the taking.
You bought a pirate game and yet you're complaining about players being pirates. The irony.
Being a solo sloop captain myself i would say you should win against a galleon 95% of the time. All you have to do is stay and shoot at the galleons blind spots ie the back left and right sides of the ship as soon as you start hitting them that's 2 out of 4 fixing that leaves one to steer and one on the canons and sails.
You are clearly in over your head here matey. You are delusional if you think playing solo is going to work out well for you. Clearly you don't understand that you are to avoid galleons and not do skeleton forts solo. Skeleton forts are time consuming and require a well cooperating team to get them done and get the treasure out and even then they get ambushed

Just sale against the wind, then the slope is fasterThis isn't 100% true. I was chased by a galleon while sailing directly into the wind and somehow they were still gaining on me
@coconut-monkey6
As long as your sails are angled either fully left or right depending on how the wind is angled towards you, you definately can outrun a galleon.Pro tip : If they're chasing you and not giving up, lead them to the red sea. They will have a much harder time getting out than you will and most of the time they dont pay enough attention to where you're leading them. ;)

That is the thing. I had my brother on the sails and we were doing the best we could with the wind and were still losing ground. In all past experiences, I had been able to outrun them but this particular time, I am baffled as to why it was not working. Only wat I was able to get ground was doing hard turns around islands and making false turns to get them to bite the wrong direction
@coconut-monkey6
For all we know you could of encountered a bug but was the current at the time really choppy? I know depending on the weather the waves can also slow a sloop down. A galleon can handle oncoming waves alot easier than a sloop so that may have been what was slowing you down more.@brittmar1e Firstly the skeleton forts are not designed for a solo sloop nor crew. They are server raids, if you are attempting them on a sloop expect to get sunk and lose your progress, its a disaster waiting to happen.
Also the game is a "Shared world adventure game" its primarily designed around the Galleon, the sloops where added later just for more variery with the warning they are hard and should only be used by experienced players looking for a challenge. It even has a warning on the menu before you go on one.
I love harassing galleons in a solo sloop.
I wouldn't attempt a fort solo, that's just me though. Totally doable as duo+. (At least not until they fix the respawn issue)
Honestly though, I wouldn't be against sloop only servers. Not sure there's enough demand for solo-only though. Not even sure there's enough demand for sloop only. Really the only time a sloop sucks is when you have more than two people who want to play, or when you're the only sloop against two galleons.
Both ships have benefits and drawbacks. I've sunk plenty sloops in galleons and plenty galleons in sloops. Sure, galleons are a lot harder to kill when they have a full crew and you're solo. I mean, two people can repair faster than one person can shoot. If the galleon is unprepared, it's not that hard.
Try putting your sails at 3/4 and aim off into the ocean. Grab a gunpowder barrel and set a cinder block on the pedal.
Go under the galleon. Come up the backside if you need to.There are ways.
