Never have I had so much time wasted in my life. Spent 3 hours at a skullfort defending against waves of enemy ships with a 2 man sloop, eventually being able to slay the captain on the island. Only thing is the mere 30 minute notice that Rare gave us about the server shutdown left us no time to collect any of our loot. Spent so much time to just get to that spot, then have everything we worked for be worth nothing due to a lousy heads up from the developers. Have no want to play this game anymore if there's no way to save all the loot we acquired after a mere server refresh. Needs to be fixed by either giving a better heads up as to when the server shutdown will occur, because honestly 30 minutes is just insulting. Or allowing players to keep their hard earned work after the reset. My apologies to anyone else that has had to deal with this ignorance from the developers.

Was about to say we got to a fort with 45 min left by ourselves, cleared it, looted it and managed to get back with 8 min left. First time i take all the loot from it and all 😅

Always check the Status page for upcoming maintenance periods folks! ;-)
They announced the downtime a few days ago on their twitter, discord, website and forums.
@soiledmacaroon7 you got the 2 hour warning as well. But like you said. You were taking on waves of ships during the time so I wouldn't expect you to have seen it.
@d-muhny That may be a possibility. Just aggravating that there is no way to save the items we had with us. Was running the chests from the ship to the gold hoarder as the shutdown occurred.

Sorry for your loss, but they announced it at the Server Status page and several times in-game.@soiledmacaroon7 Look dude. Don't even start complaining that you lost all your loot and that you wasted time of your life. If you knew that restart was coming and knew that servers were going to shut down then you should have not even done it. Even if you thought you had time to do it, you should have thought that the servers were going to go down and you would loose the loot. The only one to blame for this happening is you.
I get it. I would be a little disappointed as well.
As soon as that 30 minute came up, we headed to an outpost, sailed into the red sea, and then played some lovely shantys aboard the ferry of the damned.

Same but we scuttled at an outpost. We did one more voyage since it was by dagger tooth. Turned in at dagger then scuttled while playing music to say good bye to our beloved ship. That thing saw hell today but it never went down until we did it ourselves. RIP.
@d0minat0rxxx We had no way of knowing how long the skullfort was going to take with 2 people. And with how much time we had already poured into it we weren't just going to give up on it. The only notices I've seen for both shutdowns that I've been on for, have been the 30 minute ones.

I wasn’t playing prior to server shutdown. Hopefully they let you know in game when the servers would be going down. Is that the case?
The majority aren’t like us who frequent the forums, twitter etc. My mates wouldn’t have had a clue servers were down for five hours this morning unless I told them.@soiledmacaroon7 I play on console as well. I get their notifications right on my phone and stay informed. I'm sure you keep a phone near you also.

Rare gave EVERYONE plenty of time to collect their loot and plan around the SCHEDULED and COMMUNICATED maintenance window.
Lol "ignorance from the developer" it's your own ignorance that caused this. Rare had the date and times out in the wild on many occasions. Learn to read then learn to internet. Then learn to man the f up.

My crew has seen a Kraken once and the last tentacle glitched out and wouldn't die. Am I throwing a hissy fit and uninstalling? Nope. You know why? S*** happens. Rare have been very forthcoming which helps. More importantly the experience I get from SoT is way more magical that some launch issues can dampen.
@hudson-rl People are saying that there was a 2 hour notice in game, but I've only seen a 30 minute one for both shutdowns. And exactly I don't typically follow all the games I play on social media.

@captianrubenoks there was literally no point in this post in the first place. The maintenance was announced everywhere. Majority of this secrion is pure stupidity and b******g.
@soiledmacaroon7 your OP was also graciosuly received. I learned so much about people's inability to basic internet and be missed by the blanket bombing of announcements from Rare about the maintenance.
