I couldn't see a Mega thread where I could write down all my ideas, so I thought I'd follow other posters by creating a new one.
First off, I just want to say that I'm thoroughly enjoying the game; the co op gameplay is just awesome, but I feel that the game can be so much more. It's a strong foundation that can grow into something truly epic. So, onto my ideas:
Quests and Content:
- Vary the Merchant quests by adding delivery/pickup of silks/sugars etc
- Add incentive for levelling up in the three factions at the 5 level marks. The grind and 'smoke and mirrors' approach can be tedious without a pay off
- Add multi-crew quests, larger more involved quests where two crews meet, work together and spilt the loot
- Add new map/extend existing map. Think what would've been interesting is if you had to fill out the map as you played, charting the islands.
- Adding the option to bury items. Re-bury your treasure and provide your own riddles for players to follow. This would also be prudent if you stored your gold on your ship and had to hide it from other players (this idea would mad... Don't do it!)
- Map customisation. Scribble on your map to note wear chickens and pigs live etc
- Add collision to skeletons so they don't run through you and attack from behind
Ships and Multiplayer:
Player limits on the ships seem odd, I assume it's so you can't have a player providing constant repairs in battle, but I recommend these changes
-
Sloop should be between 1 to 3 players
-
Add a new Frigate class ship; Two sails, 4 (or 6) cannons. 2 to 4 players.
-
Galleon should be 3 to 6 players.
-
Your 8 player 'Man o' War' should be a 6 to 8 player ship. Depending on the cannons, could maybe stretch to 10 but it's difficult without seeing how big it'll be
-
Add the option of inviting your friends in game. When I play solo and then want to add a friend in, I have to leave the game before being able to do so.
-
Add the option of switching your ship (at an outpost) in game. If say for example you have 3 players and one leave, you can then switch to a Sloop
-
Add the option of joining your friends instance. This will lend the brethren of the coast feel, enabling small scale fleet battles
-
Add clan features. Again, this will unite players under the same banner and give a sense of community and rival.
-
Add timed/dated events. You have the pocket watch with the date embedded. You could use this to roll out large events like the Kraken attacking a fort where players must defend against it
Player/Ship customisation:
- Add the ability to pick hair colours
- Add clothing colouring
- Add a Flag creator. This is a big part of being a pirate and will add a uniqueness to a players vessel
- Add new instruments; harmonica, steel drum maybe?
- Add a third person view. If only to look at your pirate without having to set the dance emote.
*Add new cannon ammo; these would be found in barrels (not default). Chain shot, break sails to disable movement. Peppershot, to wipe out crew. Fire ammo, set for to ship, buckets on standby! (Does lightning hit the ship? And if so, does it set it on fire?) - When your ship sinks/scuttles, why can't I swim in or out of it?
I think I have more ideas but minds gone blank. I hope someone reads this and takes some of it on board. I genuinely love the game and want it to improve to make it really special
