Here it goes:
They didn't get microtransactions working on release, so they made items hard to get. Think about it. Even if you get 100,000 gold, do you feel like spending it on a cup?
When microtransactions get out, most people won't have many items bought, and certainly not all of them.
The day microtransactions get activated, we'll have more content to purchase, plus "great value" gold bags.
The lack of variety in something as simple and noticeable as sails, is ridiculous and unexplainable. It's a texture, f*s.
There's no denying that my theory has lots of grounds. No game in the history of microtransactions, leaves that feature for later. The big bulk of microtransaction sales come from when the game is "hot". So the pricing and low variety of items is an artificial way to keep potential microtransaction consumers interested.
I love the game by the way, but this is BS and I don't like it.
The real reason for overpriced items and poor variety

@s1l3nt everyone knows they're coming soon, but OK.
from IGN:
During a visit to Rare, executive producer Joe Neate told IGN:"Our focus at launch is on a great game experience. When we deliver this first major update, that's when we'll turn on the ability for players to spend money optionally.
"We thought long and hard about what's right for our game experience, and the key thing we think is that it has to add to the fun, social nature of the game. So anything in this area will not impact power or progression, and you'll always know what you're getting - so that means no loot crates."

Thanks I am glad to see they are keeping them. People such as myself don't have as much time to play for things and I don't mind buying them. Thanks for the link.

I asked a legitimate question as I don't have my head up Rare's butt as much as others. I have other things I occupy in my life and don't just play video games all day.
You chose to be a salty dog. Do you need a hug?
There are two types of people in the gaming industry when it comes to microtransactions.
-
The person who has disposable income to buy whatever they want. (Me)
-
The person who doesn't have disposable income but benefits from others giving the developer money thorough micro transactions.
If they don't give advantages don't be so butt hurt. My buddy grinded for days to get a ship paint and he was so happy when he got it, stop wanting everything handed to you. Play the game and earn it or break out the wallet. Matter of fact tell me what you want and Daddy will buy it for you.
-
@wartv so 30 hours just to get one of the $140.000 sails? That sounds right to you?
That's just the formula that gets people to think "I want the sail, but don't have the 30 hours, so I'll pay for it".
So, we already have the microtransactions "hook" without the real money mechanism in place.
