Spawning after death!

  • Guys is it just me or are the Trolls killing this game?
I was sailing on my own and when handing in a chest a crew of 5 decided to set apon my ship. Even though I had nothing they eventually killed me and set about killing me every time I respawed, via mobbing my boat and from a volley of cannon fire. I was in the middle of a quest and loathed to server jump as I'd lose my progress..... 5 times they did this before a simply stopped playing. Whats the solution? Could an option be added to spawn away from your boat or even move your boat?? I lost an hour of work because of these idiots who got nothing more than kicks. If a solution isn't found this will stop me and I'm sure other from playing..... Phew Rant over... sorry.

People can still join other crews, a buddy and me teamed up with a group of 3 and just hopped on their boat.

I actually never met a friendly crew. Always get shot at, what am I doing wrong :/
Would love to team up with another crew sometime

  • @banjaxed-hobo It hasn't happened to me but I've heard others report this. I also thought of having an option (only really for solo players) to spawn elsewhere.

  • I feel you, it luckily just happened to me once yet, but it's just not cool. It is interesting how this topic is flooding the forums, it really is an issue and I think it is not just the people but also the way you spawn back. You don't really have many options...On one hand, there are those who just keep killing you over and over for the fun, then there are people who actually want your chests and you just respawn every 30 seconds so they have no other choice but killing you again. I'm really not sure about this system. Sure you could just leave the server or sink your ship or whatever. But usually when they're on your Ship I think its really hard to get them off, and your ship won't move unless they destroy it or you do...
But I also wouldn't know how to solve the issue because often enough the quick respawn also saved my ship in a fight...So I assume give in and leave the server or...learn how to fight them?

  • The whole mechanic of this game is based people playing it properly.. However, there is way too much freedom to simply make people’s lives miserable. I dont play games to get p**sed off. If something isn’t done I worry a lot of people will simply drop this game.

An option to spawn elsewhere I think is the answer. But there may be a better one.

  • @brotgoesblack just have to get lucky really. In this particular case we attacked a stronghold at the same time as the other crew. I was on pc and so was another guy on their crew so we basically said "team up?" which led to splitting the loot 50/50. Overall it was a great pvp experience because we ended up fighting off another two man crew for about 20 minutes together. Got to an outpost and escorted each other to the respective faction vendors.
i honestly think karma was with me because i decided not to engage a crew earlier that was turning in their loot. but who knows. just keep playing and you'll find some good dudes

  • @drbullhammer Oooooooo interesting. That could work. Although I'm STILL ANGRY! ha ha

  • @banjaxed-hobo escape - My Crew - scuttle ship
You will respawn somewhere far away.

  • I can understand someone trying to steal your ship and so having to repeatedly try and kill you in order to achieve some goal, maybe trying to run it into something to sink it or get it closer to their own ship. It's not trolling then it's just trying to work within the game mechanics. New players may not understand the respawn system so don't expect you to reappear onboard. At the moment there isn't a way to permanently steal someone else's ship as the owners are always going to respawn on there and this potentially endless cycle begins until the ship sinks or you kill the invaders. I'm not sure how this could be resolved ...

  • @drbullhammer @svetli97 Scuttling is a band-aid. You spawn at max 2 islands distance away from where you scuttled/sank, and most crews are smart enough to be able to spot you quickly and within 10 minutes again it's right back to the same nonsense.

It'd be more of an option if you scuttled/respawned farther away when your ship sinks, but it's so close it's actually quite hard to dodge aggressive campers like that, or the endless suicide bombers for that matter.

Not saying it's not a good option, just sharing the mechanics behind it a bit from what information I've gathered, it's not AS helpful as people think and doesn't honestly get them away from the problem for long against the really good camping crews.

  • I'm thinking a safe zone would work as well.. getting shot in the back of the head when I'm buying a smart new hat also isn't fun! ha ha

  • @dracoryx the idea of respawning relatively close is so that you can complete whatever you were doing. Also you could scuttle again or you could realise the fact that they cannot catch up with you if they have no boat so they will need to get that first then find which of all the boats in the sea is you and finally start sailing towards you and never reaching you because they are not faster than you.

  • @svetli97 It'd still be nice to have the option when you scuttle, to either scuttle close by with a chance of recovering your goods, or to scuttle far away to be clear of your attackers. And to add more spawn points to the two ship to more randomize spawns and prevent the ability for players to stand in one spot in the hold on a sloop and left click every 30 seconds, for example.

  • scuttling has a second negative effect. every supplies you had on bord is lost, cannonballs, planks, banans? or am I wrong?

so if you scuttle you have to refill all supplies.

  • @happyta0 Yes, you have to resupply but at least you can play again. The mechanic is an appropriate fix without having to put too many limitations on people who may be doing this for a legitimate reason, like stealing your boat because theirs sunk during the battle.

  • @daveyjay1984 But the boat is tied to you though isn't it?... so even if your boat gets pinched its serves zero bonus for the people taking it.... So a scuttle or server hop will just take the boat out the game.. or am I way off the mark with that one?

  • @banjaxed-hobo Scuttling will remove the boat from the game meaning that you can play again with your new boat, carrying standard starting supplies.
What I'm also talking about is the fact that there are a couple of legitimate reasons to spawn camp on a boat. One being if you steak it after yours is sunk in a battle to get any loot and your crew back to shore.
I have done this before. I told the player what I was doing though and we agreed to split the loot when we made shore. Was all very amicable at the end. He was raging the first time though.

  • @dracoryx agreed

  • @daveyjay1984 Sinking boats in the name of the game, I have zero problem with. My rant was to simply camp and kill. Sitting there on that ghost ship waiting to die again was a pointless and game killing exercise. I think it would make sense at that point to give the player spawning options. I get the reason why you would want to go back to your ship… in a battle or fell overboard etc But giving me options to spawn somewhere else totally kills the trolls fun.

  • @banjaxed-hobo My question to you is, how do you know they are doing it for no good reason?
I am not against the idea of getting to choose to spawn at a distant location should that be your preference. Maybe an extra option in the scuttle option. Scuttle near, scuttle far.
    Edit for clarification.

  • @daveyjay1984 In my case I watched them check the ins and outs of my ship when I cashed in my chest. They saw me and rushed me... I took out a couple of them before I got overrun. When I respawned they just fired on me. I think one time the screen hadn't even properly come up before I was dead again. this happened 4 or 5 times.
