So I came up with a few voyage and content ideas. I'm pretty sure someone had these ideas already, but I'd feel bad if I didn't write them down, so here we go:
-
"Shipping quests". You accept a quest in which you have to bring something (e.g. mail, chests, live animals) from one outpost to another. The items will clearly be labled so enemies know these items on your ship are for a "shipping quest", because: Completing such a quest will give you more gold than usual, so it makes it attractive for other players to attack you and see if you're on a "shipping quest".
-
Fishing contest. I heard Rare wants to include fishing into the game. Cool. Make a contest out of it. This contest will take place once or twice a month (maybe more often?) for just a few hours. Whoever catches the biggest fish (of one kind) gets a prize (maybe lower cost cosmetics?).
-
Ship races. A race will happen once a month for 12 hours. In those 12 hours everyone who wants to can accept a quest for the race. The ships don't have to compete at the same time, but rather have to go from one outpost to a specific island and try to beat each other (times can be seen on the leader board at every outpost). Sloops and galleons will of course have each their own leader board on this one (otherwise galleons wouldn't stand a chance against sloops)! The first three fastest ships (on each leader board - making it six "winners") will get a reward in the form of cosmetics for either their characters or weapons or they can choose to exchange their reward in gold.
On a side note, you can only compete once in this race. You mess up? Better luck next time. Just imagine the kraken attacking you in the middle of the race. Oops. No gold for you, but no one ever said a pirate's life is easy, eh?! -
Saving the v****n. Yeah, sounds stereotypical, but it would give us more diversity in the game. Accept a quest that gives you a little story line such as "The daughter of King Julien has been kidnapped by skeletons and is being held hostage on this island (insert name of island here). Please save her and you will be rewarded with a huge amount of gold". Saving someone is normally not what pirates do, but you get a lot of gold...hmm, yeah, why not. You were headed in that direction anyway. When you get to the specific island you wander around looking for King Juliens daughter, but...oh no, you just find an empty camp. The skeletons must have seen your ship in the distance and headed off to the next island...
This can go one for a maximum of three/four islands (depending on the reward), meaning the skeletons will be on the third/fourth island, but fear not, there's an easy trick: if you go to the first island at night with all your lights off, maybe you're lucky and the skeletons will still be there (yes, even on higher rewarded quests)! If other NPC's will ever be added to the game, you can of course also encounter them as the kidnappers and not only skeletons, but that's all we got for now. And you won't always have to rescue someone's daughter. It could also be the clumsy young fisher boy or whatever. -
Mini games (bets). Turtle race, dice game, poker, cannon Shooting game...there's a lot you can add in the form of mini games or bets. For example, turtle race: Every other day an outpost will hold a turtle race in which you can bet on the winner. Turtles will be released from their cages facing the ocean. Whichever turtle gets to the water first is the winner. Standard betting rules apply. You feel betrayed? The turtle you bet on seemed to have been drugged with alcohol? You think you know who it was? Face them in a small fistfight. Whoever gets knocked out first loses the gold they just won (if they won any - otherwise the have to pay a small fee to the winner (like 100 gold or something)). You cannot die in this!
Another example: cannon shooting game. There are a maximum of three cannons in a line (it'd get too crowded with more cannons, I guess) and targets are being set up at different distances. Whover hits the most targets wins and gets a prize.
Yeah, that's about everything I came up with so far. I'm new to the game and am not familiar with everything Rare has mentioned in the past about game updates and content addition. :D
Hope you like my ideas. ^^
