Dear Rare, What happened to the good old days when you made wholesome games that made people enjoy playing like Banjo Kazooi? As I played today with my friends and family we saw some people and guess what we left them alone. I know some of you gasp because you think being nice in this game is not what the game is about. Well think again there are a lot of people out there that just want to play the game and not deal having to always be scarred someone is going to take all of your loot. Some of us just want to play the game and have fun. Just because you don't see these people face to face doesn't mean you have to be an a*****e. I would absolutely love this game in fact it probably would have been on my top 3 list of games to play if it wasn't for the things people are doing in this game. We went to a skull Island my friends and I and we fought we fought for a good hour and a half. When we finally beat it we felt so good as we drug all of the loot to our really beat up galleon. As we weren't even quite finished we noticed a ship off to the distance. So we decided to leave the rest of the loot there. As our ship was already well beaten up. We had no chance for a fight. So we ran getting further away from them because we are better sailors then they are. But then we didn't turn in time because we were too busy running that we ended up off of the map. Pretty much killing us instantly thank god they didn't get the loot though. They ended up following us into the storm and died themselves. At least there is some justice among thieves. Which is exactly as I propose now you should do. Number one- make different servers for those of us that don't want to fight because after a hour and a half there you just don't have it in you. Number-2 if you decide that is not the root make a invulnerability rule to the galleon that was near buy the skull after it disappears and to the sailors that were fighting inside so they at least have a chance to turn in their stuff. Number - 3 give an incentive not to kill other pirates. Take from the ones that are killing everybody by putting up a notoriety and the instant they reach an outpost considering how strong a notoriety they have the more loot is taken away then redistribute it out to those that have been minding their own business and being nice. Bring law into this or else you probably are going to be left with the customers that just want to be jerks and all of the rest will leave the game out of frustration. Thank you for once again listening to me gripe because I like to vent but I also think that these things may help the game play more smoothly. I know after that all happened all I wanted to do was tag those players and keep following them and killing them and moving to the servers they switch to and keep killing them until their grandchildren would here of the game and cringe.
This is some straight up bull
I am sorry, but this topic keeps getting rehashed and the answer will always be the same. There are no Safe zones. This game is a PVPVE meaning that any time you can be attacked by another player or by the environment.
I am glad you had fun going after the fortress, but a major part of this game is making sure you keep an eye out for other teams making a play towards you. Is it unfair, possibly, but this game has little competition and very little content. If you remove an element like PVP from the game - from certain players games - this eliminates out part of the excitement of the game.
Each story has a protagonist and a hero. The protagonist can be the main villain, a creature, or another actual person. Since this game is about player interaction your villain in the story is another pirate. Without it, there would not be much of a story to tell since the Kraken and the fortresses don't offer enough challenge.
So since this is about a sandbox game where you create your own Pirate Legend you need adversaries. That is the PVP aspect so again NO SAFE ZONE or EZ mode Rare was clear about this since early Alpha.
@nightmare247365 nobody said anything about taking pvp out of the game it was simply asked to seperate pvp servers from pve servers maybe have all three one of each that way casual players have a way to have fun and not attack others while those who join a pvp server can attack anyone at anytime
@stuphen-muffins That would be a problem in multiple ways.
A) You want to earn gold without any threat on a non-pvp area? Geeze. Lazy.
B) The pvp and other players is part of what gives this game any real value. ATM, there isnt much content. At all. People might say "its what u make of it" And "You make your own content", and thats completely true! But, in the game itself, theres not really much. If u take away the one thing that puts pressure and makes u feel threatened, you'll just get bored so much faster and get less enjoyment out of it.@da5natchreturns I personally dont really care if they add new servers or not everything is cosmetic anyways, i should rephrase.
its UNREALISTIC. Look at the server issues we already are having! Asking for MORE servers for PvE only is wasting your finger muscles (or giving them a good workout, i dunno Mr. BeefyFingers)
Without the PVP its just a free ride. Even if you lose the gold, the only thing you can get with it is cosmetics, so its not like your losing out on some sweet ship upgrades or something. Without fighting for the gold you earn, its just a pointless grind that stops being entertaining after you get the look you want. And if you decide to run instead of face the other galleon that is trying to fight you, your just showing them your weak, and thats going to make them want to take you on even more. I wiped a crew twice and sunk there ship for skeleton fortress loot, but they came back and took us on till we ran out of cannon balls. Thats how this game is meant to be played, and thats what keeps me coming back.

The thing that makes pvpve work is the anticipation of what could happen. You will find that pvp will become a battle royal while pve would be to easy and thus could not give any rep or gold otherwise it will just become a boosting server. You cant have a game that relies on the multiple aspects to give a full experience and separate those experiences.
What would help is solo crew server. There is a HUGE disparity from solo to being in a crew just due to the fact you cant sail and shoot! Solo servers would still have pvp and the risk reward would thus be the same. If you mix this with additional reward for sailing solo in the mixed server you would still keep the variety.
@lumpaywk Thats a issue too, but for a different reason.
I would say about 60% of solo players are casual (i dont mean this in a condescending way, i promise but i couldn't think of a better word) and would have no problem in a solo server (even though about half or more would not want a solo server). Then there is the other 40%, the ones who in a solo sloop can relyably sink a 4 man ship, and is good at multitasking their sloop all by themself. The "casual" soloers would find themselves being killed over and over by these players, and unable to run because they are in the same exact ship, and the 40%'ers are better at sailing than them. It would be worse. As a solo slooper, i find running/fighting a 4 man ship is easier than fighting another sloop.

WHAT? how is it harder to run from another solo sloop in a solo sloop server than it is to run from a solo sloop in a solo sloop on a mixed server? That makes no sense at all!
You would also find the same kind of ratios of casual to hardcore gamers in any mix of server! What your doing is allowing the "casual" as you put it, solo players to also enjoy the fun of combat. If anything that's a great thing.
2 man sloops are super powerful but its simple mechanics of the game that means playing solo is beyond a huge disadvantage.

He didn't say that at all, he said running from a Sloop is harder than running from a Galleon and if there were a solo only server it would be even harder as you would ONLY have other Sloops to run away from. A Sloop can escape a Galleon with ease, but if you're not the best sailor out there and you have the exact same ship as your opposition you're going to lose every time.
