Once everything is stable and youre at your feedback window you set aside dev time for I really think you need to look at the Kraken.
In no way should the ruling beast of the seas be something I wave at as I sail on by. Its not menacing and definitely doesnt pose a threat. It needs to be whipping the deck with its tentacles to damage players, wrapping itself around the ship more often to cause damage, pull the ship around abit, players sucked up need to have to be more fearful for their lives etc. Not only that but it needs to be doing this simultaneously, it should be panic stations and chaos. When the water turns black around your ship you should be panicking/excited for whats about to happen, not going to get a drink.
ultimately the core basics are there, just needs the wow factor.
