outpost camper

  • @the-ginjerbeard Because then you can go to the forums and savor their salty tears. If you don't mind losing, then skuttle your ship and start elsewhere. I've found myself outgunned a few times and had to do it myself. Get a crew, stop playing solo.

@benjio-san That would be wanting the game to cater to you sir.

  • @benjio-san
I had no problems at all with outposts being camped and I played all day long.

  • @weepaperboats sea of Thieves but your all right it's way easier to set the ship lose and just sit outside the gold merchant killing incoming new pirates or at least pirates that don't spend this money on clothes

  • @messerstescher klar, jedoch an outposts campen ist sicher nicht der weg, den SOT gehen will

  • @grumpie-bear29 the www isnt a bad place at all, i know

  • @cpt-peach-beard a good tactic anyways

  • @knifelife I totally agree with what you're are saying here. In the real world this sort of thing would be just the same and it's the fun of the game really, being aware of where other vessels are and other pirates and making sure that you get your loot to your buyers in time.

  • @benjio-san
Well the game is meant to be a PvP and PVE game. Are you sailing to a outpost that already has a ship there? If so that seems like a poor choice because obviously they are going to attack you since you likely have loot.

  • @suicidal-will I do my crew are just feeding children and doing other rl things that's why I was running chickens not gold, however as a solo griefer I've begun to make the real money now so I suppose your right about it being a good way to play

  • my crew comin back from the sekele fort saw a boat camping so we just sunk them. use gunpowder barrels swim under the water. thus campers go away then leave two on your boat and send other of to sell start with the cheapest just to check if there is a camper still on island. if not then sell away

thank you. was not ment to be violence in any way

@benjio-san Have you not watched any of their youtube content where they explicitly say that it's a world of pirates doing things pirates do? It is a fundamental aspect of the game. Also outpost campers are easy to deal with. Unless you are on xbox and are getting 360 no scoped by the PC nerds and are salty about there not being auto aim.

how ever needs autoaim and cheats for this kind if pvp lol should go play destiny 2

  • @the-ginjerbeard dijo en outpost camper:

@lobofh I was the only one on the island than a ship pulled in while I had my chicken in hand from and out gunned me cleaned out my chickens than waited for me to respawn to take my bananas and boards

That's not camping, or you didn't scout the surroundings properly or you were too much time in the island, some ship docked and attacked you, that's fair game.

Camping means that a ship or crew will stay in the island, waiting to kill you when you try to deliver your stuff. If you scout for ships or mermaids they will not catch you by surprise.

  • @lobofh I'll agree it's not camping. I checked my side of the island via spyglass and went to the far dock to look for another ship, didn't look for a mermaid. I went below deck carried a chicken up went back for the other and came under fire then got shot by the guy boarding me when I jumped overboard with my chicken. However I did fairly well by leaving my sloop just out of range of the Outpost and than firing myself in via cannon when I saw sails circling and looking for ships at dock so if they don't mind I can live with it would work better if I had a crew to sail in and shoot them with cannons but I did pretty well

  • This just what you do when you have a big crew. You blockaid the port, or patrol it and take someone else's loot with little to no effort. Why do all the other stuff when you can have someone do 80% of the work for you?

No idea what you said.. I hope its something along the lines of you understanding that there are multiple outposts to sail to and that you can "scout out" an outpost prior to making a decision to stop there

  • I get the points being made in here. I just got into the game today (cinnamon-beard all day yesterday!) and as i was looking around the outpost some 2 crew sloop came around and just started shooting my ship. I did not even had anything of value on board or anything and because i was going solo i had no way of fighting them off.
That really annoyed me but at the same time i understood that this is part of the game.
It appeared that they came to that outpost to deliver a chest and they did not want any other pirates around trying to steal their chest, which i totally understand (I am a benevolent pirate though, i'd just leave you alone as long as you leave me be if we cross paths.)
But yeah, that made me a bit salty for a bit but then I just decided to scout ahead and steer clear of other pirates as long as i am going at it solo and it is noted in the solo 'game mode' that it is a more perilous adventure.

So i think the smartest thing to do is get some friends and sail on a galleon. if you don't have any friends you can find like-minded players via this forum or through the social part of the SoT gamehub on xbox.
If you still wanna go solo I'd advice to return to an outpost after every successful voyage, and leave the higher paying quests for when you have a crew.

And of course you can ask for a PvP free zone around outposts but then griefers will just wait for people to leave the zone to attack and that would also make dropping off chests and stuff a piece of cake, but where is the fun in that?

  • I actually remember this guy, Me and my crew fought him the other day, we had finally turned in all of our skeli fort loot when we saw a sloop heading for the outpost and we then started to go after him. he was yelling at us saying we where outpost camping when he had every opportunity to see a GALLEON right in front of him

  • My friends and I only saw one sloop.... that's it. We tried to find people, because we were checking stuff out and wondering where everyone was. The one sloop didn't wanna fight, we left him alone and kept finding more fat loot.

  • Hmmm, it's almost as if these people are sitting there at the island... Thinking like a Pirate..... Pirating. Hmmmm

sorry, messerstescher is a german dialect phrase.. anyways. yes. i said: camping on outposts isnt the way SOT want us to play the game imo

  • I had one guy trying to shoot me as I was turning in a chest at the tent. He failed. Then he got on my ship and helped me with a Soul mission. We're Xbox Live friends now.

  • A friend of mine and I got the game pass to give this game a try. If we liked it, we'd get two other friends to sign up for some four player fun.

So, two new players, never played the game before... and there were two guys hunting us and camping the quest place. And these guys were almost unkillable. Our ship's powder keg blew one time and that killed one of them once.

Anyways... not a fun experience for a new player. Not fun for new players means no new players. And the game instance we were playing it was desolate. It was just me and my friend and the two campers.

So, maybe don't camp the new players, if you want more people to play with on your PVP game that almost nobody is playing. It seems like common sense, but some people just can't delay gratification.

Right now, I'm not inclined to get my other two friends to play because it is not an enjoyable experience for new players.

  • If you were to remove PvP ships you'd have to replace them with npc crewed ships just to keep that element of the gameplay. Which, imho, is a lot of work to keep a small group of players content.
I like encountering incentive tactics for getting my loot, keeps me on my toes 💀
