I want to know if I'm the only maniac. I've been going at it for almost 7 hours now(between today and yesterday I did get some sleep). Spent three hours during the final beta and absolutely loved what my pirate looked like and now I'm just trying to find something similar again with no luck!
How many of you are still rerolling the Pirate generator?
I found love at first sight and selected my pirate almost instantly.
Sorry to hear about your OCD, here's a short clip of me falling in love with my Pirate.

I spent 30 minutes picking one. After checking out the outpost for 20 minutes I decided he looked like a stoned Alan Jackson. I aint going down under on the Chattahoochee so that needed to change. I then took another thirty to fourty five minutes and decided on something I am very happy with.
And I thought I had an issue and as putting to much thought into it, you have gone above and beyond that!
I would be if I didn't settle for picking a character that ironically looks a lot like my GFs character (she picked a dude cause the women were too dumpy/r******d looking for her to waste time paying attention to).
My othe friend spend hours last night trying to pick a dude before giving up and spending a few more hours today trying again.I can accept some randomness, but at least let us have some control. Let people at least be able to toggle gender and hair color, body type choice would be nice too.
@drakebg757 Agreed I think a good compromise that would'nt ruin their vsion would be.
Select Sex/bodytype
Start Pirate Generator
After you select one
Select skin, hair, eye color.Scars and tats should be a cosmetic shop item along with hair styles etc.
I like the Idea of Rare, to make character design randomly.
If not, all would look like the same.
I spent 10 minutes to choose my character and im happy with it.And this is a pirate game. Pirates have to look ugly in some way.
This is no model contest.
And most of the time u cant even see your character. They should leave it like it is imo.
My wife and I are still both rolling through the IPG. Just doing it casually and in no rush (we expected this).
I treat it like a casting call. I've seen a few I am considering, but none of them have had that certain magic that I know I'll find, eventually. :D
I'm glad they gave the delete option though. I wanted to hop in and check something with a temporary character.@dustofthedeath Who's making a model? Also the game is entirely based around cosmetics..being happy with what your base character looks like is important. I don't despise the system nor would I ever want a full on create a player with sliders etc cause people would make abominations but it could be a little better than it is. Character lock was a good step and obviously I don't expect most people to be as finicky as I am.
@countantonius I feel like a good work around for this would be certain presets that you can scroll through rather than slide. Like how if you go through the IPG long enough you'll see them with certain similar features like head shape or nose shape? I feel like it would be nice if we could set something like that from what is already preset by the game rather than a generator. That way we wouldn't have an issue with abominations and those who want to randomize still can.
They LEAST they could have done was give us the option to choose gender!

Amazing, I found a girl almost exactly like this one, she was my favourite most of the time (one hour rolling the dice)
But finally I picked my other better option:

Or maybe provide options? You can keep rolling randomly, and those with ocds and the desire for a pirate they want to create and play have that ability? Never vote for less options. It opens you up for abuse.
The only thing I would like to change is my hair color.. after an hour of spinning i found something reasonable but still with the wrong hair color. (which I thought would be possible after using the generator.. but no luck). So if that would be made possible.. i'd have my perfect pirate. Can't be that hard. ;P
