@jjblackhat No, it should be right in your cosmetic chest on the ship. If it isn't then you don't have it and need to get in touch with Gamestop again.

@jjblackhat If you bought off the MS store then you would receive a message from Xbox live with the code to redeem it (just got my code) therefore if you bought a physical copy at GameStop you would need to get the code from them.

When you purchased it from gamestop it is a separate code. Did you order online and have a digital game purchase or physical copy in store? I received my email with code last month when I purchased online for digital download.

No preordered in store and picked it up in store this morning.

Update. Gamestop is saying it is a manufacturer error and no codes were received. They are supposed to call me back.

Update: I've got my code, and the BD gear looks great!

So here is how this went down.

1. Over a month ago I walked into Gamestop and purchased an XB1, controllers and paid in full (preorder) Sea of Thieves. I was given a receipt, but no preorder information was present.

2. I walked in Gamestop around the time they opened today to pick up my game. I asked the customer service rep if he needed to provide me anything to get the pack, such as a code. He said no it should be in the game box. I said great!

3. I found that it was not in the game box so I called Gamestop again asking how I could get my code since it was not in the box. The Gamestop rep said, I am really not sure... I said that's not going to work for me unfortunately - I preordered this from your company so I could get the code. He said, hang on I am going to go look in the back. He comes back to the phone and says okay, so there is a vendor in the game that will have it, but you have to find the special items vendor.

4. I came to these forums and found out that this was not true at all after looking for this vendor for 30 minutes. (Thanks BTW!) I called back and told him, this is not true and I should get a code like others have. He said one second I am going to contact my manager. He comes back to the phone and says okay, so there was a manufacturer error and we are going to try to work with the manufacturer to fix it and call you back with your code.

5. A few hours later I had decided to reach out the regional manager of the stores via email (I was able to get to them from the gamestop website by posting a complaint about a specific store). The regional manager (Stormy) told me it should have been on my receipt so I took screenshots of both receipts, the day of purchase and day of pickup and sent it via email to her.

6. Ten minutes later Stormy found me a code, and emailed it to me. I put in through Xbox and restarted the game and the gear was in my chest on the boat!

What a day! Had some issues (2 hours of 'searching the sea'), and my personal favorite when my weapons stopped working and then my inventory disappeared except for wooden planks, cannons and bananas. That made it impossible to play - hopefully more bugs get worked out tomorrow. I know it can be a slow crawl for these things sometimes.

Overall the game is EXCELLENT.

So I work at gamestop, I entered my code and I got the controller and entered that code and I don't have either outfit, there's many people having the same issue the guy at gamestop probably doesn't understand what's going on with your bonus, CALMLY explain that you need another code for the black dog or ask a manager nicely we tend to go out of our way to help nice customers.. where as if you call us idiots and claim we rip you off we tend to just let you sulk... that's retail summed up. Just be calm and explain what's going on. Well get you sorted out.. and if they say they can't send me a message I'd be more than happy to help you out

On another note - I am not a mean person, but all customers should be treated equal and what you said is they are not. That doesn't look good for gamestop. =/

I don't understand why they went through such an absurd process like...it's a very very simple thing to do.. sorry I didn't see your update my phone loads webpages slow so I just saw random replies. But I'm glad you got it sorted out. But holy F**** that's irritating... and gives the rest of us a major black eye

Say what you want but I have never missed a console release at midnight because of my gamestop store. My store has a real family feeling - unfortunately it was disrupted a bit with this experience, but most of my experiences have been great. Not all, but it's retail.
