Ship wrecks?

  • So when someone logs out or crashes in the sea or gets sank the boat sinks and everything onboard either floats or sinks all the trash stuff that you can find all over the place seems to float, so the barrels, the chicken coops, the gun powder...But all the chests they sink after awhile and most places in the sea are way to deep to even think about swimming to the bottom? (is it even possible to do so?)

So whats the point in it? just incase the off chance you just so happen to catch the chest before it sinks?

  • @roosterhome how would you like it if you where fighting a ship who you knew had the best loot aboard, sunk it, then had all the loot sink with the ship

  • @omega-131313 But thats pretty much what happens unless you are extremely quick in grabbing the chests they do sink.

  • @roosterhome They float.

Not sure about disappearing after a certain amount of time. But they float.

For a very short period of time which is ok if you sink that ship but if you find seagulls which is the location of ship wrecks of old its almost pointless to check it out because those chests would of long sank to the depths of the sea.

Or correct me if I'm mistaken?

  • @roosterhome
I found that floating barrels are randomly generated and also happen when a ship sinks.
To be honest I have yet to find a chest(or anything valuable) in the flotsam randomly.

But so far I haven't seen chests sink. As far as I have been going back to places 15-20min later.

But I do think they disappear after a certain amount of time. But I might be wrong - and I hope to be wrong. I have been leaving small gifts from time to time in front of trading companies. :D
(and littering seas with gunpowder... especially around outposts)

Those features behave differently thorough different enough algorithm, I reason. Floating chest sinks and cannot be retrieved past a certain timeperiod (short rescue window) while any shipwreck still has some chests there (rescue mission). Someone with more experience might wanna jump in and clarify this.

  • @mythicalfable I've noticed the randomly generated ship wrecks ( I assume are randomly generated) the ones with the half sunk galleon and what not, I have found decent loot from them. Exotic silks and Chests but the ship wrecks of other peoples boats(No visible ship wreck) just seagulls and barrels. I've always found nothing of interest.

  • @roosterhome the in game ship wrecks with the seagulls contain random loot inside them, that does not sink. Pull up to one and do some exploring and you will usually find a chest, unless it has recently been plundered.

I don't mean the actual ship wrecks you can see though I mean just the float barrels, these are old player ship barrels right that have either sank or logged? or am I mistaken, I know the actual physical ship wrecks you can see have loot.

  • @roosterhome nah, they're just barrels.
Nothing remains of old player ships.

I was hoping that when a ship is sunk it'd seed that location for either a static wreck or a barrel cluster, but it doesn't look to be the case.

  • @roosterhome, you're mistaken. Those are just random barrels. I mean, story wise, I'm sure they are from crashed ships, but in real life...

Well, you know what I mean.

They are not there because of actual players.

Yeah thats what I was hoping for, maybe in future updates this will be added. Nothing should leave the world other than players when they log off, this may cause slight lag so maybe every 24hours the servers can wipe random treasures in the sea that have been dropped and not picked back up.

Maybe ships from other players could stay for 3-5hours for the wreckage to be explored and then also disappear, or really slowly sink and just vanish if they want a more realistic approach.

  • the chests float for a few minutes, I tried timing it but I got bored - it was taking too long.
