For Shame....

  • So nothing was added and with so little content they want 60$. Is it me or are the game developers getting more lazy but expect us to keep paying 60$ for a game. They can delay a game but cant add any more things to it. Feel like this is nomansky all over again.

  • So you would be happy if they delayed the game to add more content. But your not happy if they release a game and add more content for free later....

  • what do you mean keep paying, you payed once, and it just came out, and there is no way you have seen everything yet. go become pirate legend, go drink in the tavern, find the kraken

  • Honestly it is. Good thing I only cared about the pvp from the start.

you got these (Mod Edited) calling people entitled for wanting more content for their money, I wonder what their new excuse is when they play the game for themselves and realize they played themselves.

  • @a13xa4d3r They've been working on this game since 2015 and hyped up everyone at multiple E3 conventions....Id rather they delay and add content then release a game with barely anything. But its looks like they got the delay part going but nothign to show for it.

  • @synnzero Yea but comparing it to no man sky is a bit much, they didn't lie about anything.

  • There is a lot of content in that wasn't before...all three Trading Companies and their respective quest lines and progressions, new skeleton types, Legendary Pirate status (and how to achieve it and what it rewards), and the kraken just to name a few.

And launch is only the beginning. More content will be added regularly both in small and more significant updates for the foreseeable future.

  • @synnzero Its a service game have you heard of them before? New things are going to be added weekly, quests are going to be limited timed. All Dlc will be free. You only have to pay for cosmetics if you really want too.

And please quit whining and go have fun. Hunt the Kraken be the pirate of legend.

  • @snakey9419 I feel like this is how game companny's are doing things lately. They slack off and expect full price for a half a##ed game...

  • @snakey9419 How much content do all you haters want exactly 653.74? You lot will never be pleased.

  • @knightx13 Please just go around pasting this to all the haters who are jumping to conclusion with the first 1 minute of gameplay and not even seeing the whole game!

  • @knightx13 Like im going to play it and hope things change for the good. Ive played Rare games and they usually don't disappoint. It justs seems a tad underwhelming after being in the alpha and beta's and seeing this is what they have to show for it.

  • @hapatheo I'm with you on this one.

  • The full game was still on open beta. All of you are defended by Kraken and the Legend of the Pirates. But Kraken is just an accidental clash for which nothing is given. Pirate legend is generally laugh. A simple grind of the same content, consisting of 3 elements, and could consist of 10-15. I do not get a fan from grind. It's fun the first 10 hours. Then it turns into boredom. PVP somehow saves the situation. Killing all in a row is really interesting, but it will get boring for a couple of days. It's good that there is an XBox Game Pass. 14 days is enough for this amount of content.

  • My good fellows, the game just released, and people are already complaining about there being no content. I bet my pair 100 percent of the whingers haven't even fought a skeleton captain, let alone become pirate legend. And how can you pirate legend is a joke when you have not even been to the hideout? There is so much to do, and its loads more fun with a good friend. Granted you played the beta, I was here since the technical alpha, and still have not seen everything yet.

I love the game, but let's be honest, from Final beta to release, it was like a standard content update, not worthy of a release.

Unlocking one more faction, pirate legend, kraken tentacles, snakes, skeletons....I mean I'm happy with it but that's people complaining about lack of release content are more than justified. We were all expecting a lot more considering the secrecy.

  • This is a game for friends. If you have friends you’ll have a brilliant time... doing very little but having fun. It’s not a vertical progression game. It’s a skill based laugh. It’s that simple. It doesn’t need Warcraft level content. It’s not that sort of game.

Yes, because in the real world scenario you are trying to black-white it goes like this.....

Current Scenario: They want $60 now for "something" in the future, that you can not actually evaluate when handing over your money.

Delayed Scenario: We get to evaluate a complete product when deciding to hand over the money.

    I will ask the same question I have in another thread;

If your Internet Service Provider were to try and charge you NOW for a speed you can't get now, but they said you would get LATER, would you allow that? "Hell no" is the answer.

Stop giving the gaming industry a free pass.

  • @suave-beard Your comparing a video game to internet service? really? I hated No man sky as much as everyone else. I get that you want all the content now, but not all games are the same. The only problem I see with the strategy Rare is taking with this game is if the content is to easy to finish, and gets boring before the new content comes out. But this game was never about content for me, I pay 60$ because I love how the sailing mechanics work, everything else is just a bonus to me.

  • The content is what you make of it; it's created by the players.
Yeah, on paper (well, screen), that may seem empty, but for anyone who's played (or at least all the streamers and Youtubers that I've seen, and the folks I played with), the game is intensely fun (even for me who hates PvP) and satisfying, and this just from the beta.

I am not comparing games to a service, RARE did that when they said their game was a "Live Service".

So stop acting like I am going out on a limb by comparing a service, as declared by the entity offering it, to that of other services.

Edit: For the record, and as I have shared before, I am a former owner (retired) of an Internet Service Provider. So the idea that video games are a "service", but want to follow a retail model, is laughable!

  • Even if this is a "service game", 60$ is too much. The high price vs low content will deter a lot of possible buyers from getting the game, and will probably play against the popularity and success of the game.

  • @suave-beard You asked the question about what would you do if your internet company said they would charge you for speeds you wouldn't get now, but later. Just because they used the term live service doesn't make it comparable to that...

  • @synnzero its unbelievable how ppl are never happy at all whatever the game is whatever the content what the hell are u expecting from a video game ? Personally its having fun when ive free time and this is exactly what this game gimme ! U know playing video game should be when u wanna relax and have nothing more important to do but as i read 4 a lot of ppl there live depend on this and that miserable ur not happy get a refun cancel ur preorder i dont care ! Gonna give more room 4 ppl who enjoy the game and only wanna have fun

  • @spectrazy666 let's be honest gamers have been getting it right up the bum for awhile now, we've been gip in every single way you can imagine, we've be taught that it's okay to accept games that are half done and get incremental updates from time to time, we've been taught that we will always need a day 1 patch...now I won't deny this game will be completely different a few days from now but which group of players is rare going to tend to because as of right now PVP players are the most easy to satisfy because they simply just want to kill another person.

it's fine to be skeptical i would rather this forum be full of skeptical people then people who praise it and vigorously defend it.

  • @a13xa4d3r said in For Shame....:

    Yes, yes it does.

They want money from you now for something coming in the future.

An ISP wanting money from you now for something coming in the future is the same thing. Further, we are also talking about digital services in the both cases. One comprising of noting but literal Bits, the other being the infrastructure to exchange those Bits.

I find it amazing that you are failing to grasp this, even on the most basic of levels.

Someone wants money from you now with the 'promise' of delivering something, they won't even tell you what, to you in the future.

  • @suave-beard Wut? You pay an ISP monthly for a monthly service, not that same at all. You said it yourself, one comprising of literal bits, the other is the infrastructure to exchange those bits, how can you compare the two....

  • I payed 60 euros for Fortnite (some guys 150 with the bigger version) and I have been playing it for 250 days now..........and they still didn't add the storyline of half the maps of the game!

Can you just look at the big picture?, games as service are an ongoing process, if the gameplay is good and fun they are in it for the long haul. Rare now needs to work with an steady pace in new cosmetics, new features, seasonal events, community novelties...and indeed, they can't be greedy with microtransactions, fair warning.

  • While I agree that what Rare have provided for launch is a good start for such a long-term game, I do think the initial cosmetics do seem a bit shallow. However, it's not like anybody can get all those cosmetics with-in the first day or even the first week. So while most people would have loved to see all that future locked content I do think it's a bit disingenuous to call foul/shame or touting pitchforks about lack of content. But I will say Rare does have to understand about first impressions & all that. I'm sure they expected some backlash, but one wonders if they expected this much. My hope is that it doesn't negatively affect release plans for future content going forward. I'm in it for the long haul. Peace out!

  • Once more, you are talking about the unknown, you got 0 hints on how much it takes to add even a single hat, with the lights and the color it needs to fit the game. They said free content for the next 10 years, have faith and stop crying over the game you got to expect, they said everything on the trailers and they didn’t lie once like no man’s sky did to grab money

  • Makes a whole lot o sense to me mates. Who has the gold for fancy fine clothes anyway. We only just left port!

First patch will come around fast now we have launch into adventures new. And with it I am sure more swag for all ye greedy magpies.

    First of all it's "you're".
And the second thing - I think delaying the empty game would be a much better solution.

  • @a13xa4d3r said in For Shame....:

Free DLC is not really free if they are adding micro-transaction..

Dude, you really need to just be fine with the 60 dollar price. Every game is that way. Once they started this whole beta and early access đŸ’© they got people entitled. I already hated the idea of betas and early access because it gave people the ability to give their input. To me that is what kills a game. I have played almost every game since duck hunt and believe me, the less gamers get a say the better. I really don’t care what gamers want. I want the devs to make the game without being worried and just make it.

It’s a very sad truth nowadays. These millennials come on and are the scourge of this planet, never happy with anything. You don’t even deserve the right to say how the game should be. I do blame the devs for that aspect!

This is false. DLC is only free for a limited time (3 months IIRC).

In order for a service game to be successful, it should be an actual service. This is just the beta with skeleton palette swaps. To say that I'm miffed is putting it mildly

    @apocacide said in For Shame....:

right? if ya don't like it don't play it

This is not the attitude you should have. The fact that many customers are dissatisfied with a product that they paid for is a worrying sign.
