Golden Banana Quest! - Cogitate, Discuss and Suggest in here!

  • How fun it to see people in different parts of the world giving us hints for our quest!

I love this launch campaign, and Golden Banana Quest !!!

  • I’m thinking it’s probably how they have spelt it. Possibly a slang way of saying it?

I don’t think the ARG is super difficult, so this theory is unlikely, but it does have URL in the middle. Perhaps replacing part of it into a website of theirs, might produce another page, hmmmm

  • I need to find a translator, I have a hunch... ;)
    nvm didn't work...

  • Figured out clue#1. #2. Is causing me some grief

  • Is thebananaquest Instagram official? Because if so, why would anybody bother trying to figure out pieces of this puzzle on their own and not just check that? And if not, why are they sharing with the rest of us and not claiming the golden bananas for themselves?

I'm bummed about clue 4. Everything to this point has been fun, challenging, but solvable without assistance from anybody else doing the quest. But I don't see how in the world anybody was supposed to see that image at the appropriate time without the help of this instagram video.

  • using the traffic cam was useless, not enough pixels. the instagram video from them saved us.

  • @rrr111 can you link the cam anyway? I'm curious about it.

  • @cyber-phazon657

  • @mickeyc13 Same. I was trying to get traffic cam footage of the street. No luck. Don't know how we were supposed to see this without that post. And then that takes away the entire point of finding where those coordinates point to...

  • This one was not that hard as others.

I guess the next one will be hard. :p

  • @xcalypt0x I think its because most of the cameras get the blares and brightness from the screens when light hits it, makes them have a "Blindspot" other issuews is like the weather with the flags from clue 3, wind made it hard for the flags to be spotted with the cam and the timestamp photos are then blured.

  • @xcalypt0x it could be that the Instagram post was done 6 mins after the clue dropped so if you are fast enough with coordinates you could get the answer before everyone else.

  • @xcalypt0x This one really doesn't feel right compared to the rest, either. Incredibly simple, just difficult to get a visual on what we needed to see. No cypher, no riddles, no dictionaries, nothing. Just "HERE'S THE ANSWER."

  • The spelling is straight up getting into my head and making me itchy...

  • @zanderxx Thanks i would have been screwed withought that XD

  • @merlynjc What time you get the answer doesn't matter though. As long as you finish it before the last riddle is released.
When the last riddle is released, that's when speed matters. :D

  • @zanderxx Thanks -That was impossible otherwise from where I am!

  • @mickeyc13
I don’t think it’s necessarily easy, I watch the video live and had a good angle but they were like 60 ads changing progressively as the entire time went by it was hard to pick out. It was easy if you just Read from someone to go to the Instagram page and see a clip that someone was actually there gave. I didn’t get it either. It looks like the 15th clue is going to be the only one that really matters if anyone stands a chance at getting to the next tier. Whoever gets it the fastest will get there.

  • so do you spell it like "hirl" in it or just with "url"

  • @preacher-t88 Where did u find a camera? I was trying traffic cameras but most werent working. Only found 1 that worked and it was like 1 frame every 5 minutes.

  • @xcalypt0x https://www.instagram.com/thebananaquest/

  • @xcalypt0x actually it was funny. I took a chance on YouTube. A newscaster was showing the screen live

  • @preacher-t88 I ttied youtube but didnt see anything. Was it under Piccadilly Circus?

@MrConBeans426 yeah I saw that. Just wondering if it was possible without that.

  • I can confirm the clue is Wurlpool for clue 4. Just as I spelled it. Not sure what to do with it. Any ideas?

  • @PREACHER-T88 You might be the only person playing who managed to find a way to solve this one without using the instagram cheatsheet. What I was getting at in saying it was simple compared to the others, though, was that once you saw what you needed to see, you didn't need to do any further deduction. Unless I haven't figured something out yet that I'm supposed to, anyway. Still haven't been able to come up with a rhyme or reason for the misspelling :P

  • Yeah, I searched Piccadilly lights live stream. There were a few when I chose one. I only had time to look at one stream. And I didn’t solve the clue, LOL. Admittedly I also looked at the Instagram post After using them as my third website.

  • Clue 3 was satisfying to solve. Clue 4 was a little too obvious. I’m going with the proper spelling, not what was advertised, btw.
I like the “real world” events, but the coordinates seem arbitrary if the only way to get the clue is to watch the Instagram page...
We’re a quarter of the way there!

  • Well there is this page, http://www.wurlpool.com/ and it says it's coming soon and I remember the time on SoT Youtube video saying 9:00 something so I thought, maybe, there might be something else too it? I might be overthinking it.

  • @firetadpole7469 @Hillbilies A dram isnt just a measure though, it is a reference to a small amount of liquid and a measure of something is usually like a shot e.g you dont get a measure of beer - especially when it says "stiff" - Further down the passage BB says to have a drink of rum aswell,...dram is like grog a reference to a drink rather than the literal measure of a measure

  • I still don’t know how I feel about clue #4. An oddly spelled word on a screen seems to obvious. There must be more to it... or perhaps they’re just throwing us a freebie here to prepare us for tougher clues to solve.

  • @thedarkstorm13
I thought it was at first to, that riddle was essentially finding Waldo in 4 to 6 seconds if you found the right camera angle or had the luck to be There. I was talking with someone else and it was easy IF you chose the right camera or stream and IF you saw the clue. What Made it seem easy was the Instagram page. The winner is going to be lucky enough to be geographically close or the person is going to have the right insight into which website to choose. It’s going to boil down to speed on the 15th clue…

  • I am just going to listen to "Drunken Sailor" after having my dinner just now. anyway... so what would you do with a drunken sailor tomorrow (or if you have the game, right now?)?

  • @preacher-t88 The southern point one seemed different. Like there was an established camera website for it. This one did not have a website dedicated to a live cam.

  • @aprovoked-mango no, a dram is definitely just a measurement. A dram of whiskey, a dram of rum, it's very definition is a unit of measurement for alcohol and spirits. (Bartender) a dram is smaller than a shot. A stiff dram would be like asking for a strong shot. And what kind of shot grants courage? Alcoholic shots of course. And whats the preferred drink of pirates? Rum. What was granted as a royal measure to the navy? Rum. What is finer or princely grog? Rum.

  • @xcalypt0x I don’t think there have been established websites for anything yet. It’s possible that Rare has someone at each of these locations just in case things go wrong to reveal The clue. I’m wondering who’s uploading to Instagram, If it’s random people, Rare, or special events that Rare has use as a backdrop for their clues/ answers. If it’s random people, then we’re getting secondhand information from people who have already solved the clue, thus we are one step behind. If it’s Rare, Then they’re providing the answer and it’s whoever uploads it the fastest. There are a lot of factors in winning this or even solving each clue for yourself. I got the first three but this fourth when I looked it Instagram.
