During the Final Beta, I was testing the Merchant quests. After sailing to multiple islands to find 2 white feathered chickens for the quest, I found 1 each on separate islands. Time to turn them into the correct Outpost. Landed and proceeded to take off one of the cages. I noticed I was not alone when I saw another Sloop docked on the other side of the Outpost. So I hid the first cage and ran back to my ship. Low-and-Behold, there is another Pirate stealing my second quest chicken from my ship. He was already on his way back to his sloop, when I emptied all my pistol shots at him to no avail. The second he stood on his boat with the stolen cage, his sloop immediately began to SINK! Him and his buddy could not repair it. Sinking, creaking wood sounds and everything. Sunk...
I'm not sure if this was a punishment for stealing a quest chicken/pig, but I loved it. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for being More Pirate... Chests are all fair game. But quested animals are already hard to find. No maps to guide you. Sometimes they are not all in the same place.... etc.
So if this was intended punishment. Great! If not, maybe it was just crazy coincidence, and they scuttled their boat at that exact moment? Or who knows what happened??
So maybe when I captured the quest chicken and it played some merchant music, it tagged the cage a certain way. Beware Thieves....
I am for Pirates killing me on land, on the way to the Merchant turn-in on an Outpost, where they can turn it in themselves after killing me. But it would make sense that if you put in all this time to be a humble merchant, finding those exact animals, capturing them, sailing to the correct Outpost, that it would not be that easy to steal them, boat to boat, out at sea.
Anyway, I thought it was something cool that happened. And hopefully it WAS Intended.
