I hope they haven't revealed everything...

    Don't get me wrong, i am super hyped for this game: and have been for half a year.
    but the best thing to me is how lacking the beta/alphas have been. If you are going to create a game about a magical pirate sea full of weird creatures and people, then of cause you need to keep leaks to a minimum. There are a few new leaks in the launch trailer. like the new skeleton and the Kraken. I see a lot of people complaining about the lack of content of the alpha and beta. However i like this i wanted a taster, i want to know as little as possible to surprise my self. I know 50 quid + is a lot for the transparency but even with everything revealed all ready i would say it is worth it. Besides they said on multiple occasions they will keep updating regularly.

    My only concern at the minute is how much time between each update. I feel at least 1 update a month will keep the game a float. If they are going to make the game feel like its the golden age of piracy and that the world is changing they can't afford to not update regularly. I mean the ideas that have been put on the table by the developers like new Companies and evolving the Kraken are the ones what i think people want in the sea of thieves!

    From what I gather, we've seen a great majority, dare I say 75% of the content in the final beta so it won't differ that much from the released game. But that's my understanding.

    Either way, we're getting more content in the coming months so that keeps me going.

    They're not leaks if they're in the trailer.

    We definitely haven't seen everything. We know pirate legend exists and have literally only seen one piece of the hideout, and none of the unlocks, voyages, or rewards.

    Haven't seen all the Trading Company unlocks and outfit/weapon skin variants.

    Haven't seen pets.

    Haven't even seen anything Kraken wise other than a few tentacles.

    Not to mention everything future wise that we don't even know about.

    Huh? Pirate legend is there for launch -- that's when you get the hideout. The legendary captain is post-launch -- that's when you get the ship.

    Oh, okay - I've clearly conflated the two! Comment withdrawn!

    The legend title made it for lunch as well as the legendary tavern. Private hideout and vessel are post launch with Legendary Captaincy.

    We will discover new things every week, maybe even more often, maybe less. And when micro-transactions will be implemented we will have even more fun with pets, toys and instruments. All that will be available as soon as they are developed, since they don't have to wait for weekly maintenances for the smallest features, as they told when they explained their game-as-a-service policy.

    We have the ability to release almost daily, at the moment we've been releasing weekly. We might not do it every week at live, looking at value of smaller updates vs. larger projects, but, when we look at things that just enrich the game experience, so, customizable underwear, for example, that might be something that as soon as we have it, we'll just turn it on.

    In the environment such as this one, selling premium cosmetic items will compete with basic items since they are all cosmetics in the game and the items in the game have tactical value. Vanity favouritism between cosmetic items is one of the worst mistakes devs can make if you ask me. Players will target owners of premium content without question disarming them from the items. This divides community very efficiently.

    Solution to this would be to sell gold as a premium currency and as the only item in a premium shop outside the game. Items in the game ought to be available thorough material criteria exchange and occasional gold compensation in case players have material deficiencies. This allows most freedom to be had and helps to keep games ad free as well. I am so worried of this trend. Really worried.

    Keeping item favouritism away from the game and only selling currency would mask each item behind the veil of uncertainty which mitigates griefing. There are a lot of target signs on each of our backs. This would clean it from one of the major ones.

    I think voyages is something we haven’t entirely seen. We’ve played the lower level of voyages but have yet to get our hands on the more epic ones.

    not to mention the world map weve been playing on is just one of three, "the shores of plenty" we also have "ancient isles" and "the wilds" to sink our hooks into, and that's just at launch. i trust rare when they say the games is going to evolve over time. They will have hopefully learned from the mistakes of other companies who made the same promises. i don't think there's any need to worry, especially as the majority of the appeal of this game is how your own adventures form organically from how you interact with the world and players around you, everyones experience is a little different and i haven't laughed so much playing with random strangers in a long time.

    I know theres talk of legendary voyages but i dont recall any info being given or even challenged in regards to what these look like, i imagine noone knows right now and that the next challenge after launch for rare is adding enough content like this fast enough to keep a 2 hours a week player in content for more than a couple of months

    There are currently three subtly different biomes in the game right now, Shores of Plenty, Ancient Isles, and The Wilds – we don't mark them on the map – but one's more ancient civilization, one's more Maldivian white sands, one's more dark and oppressive. I'm sure beyond launch we're going to expand the size of the map, as we grow. We'll look at increasing ship numbers per world.

    That's why I didn't mentioned cosmetics, only pets, toys and instruments. They don't want to break their own cosmetic system, and they never told about getting new outfit this way.     what other things can fit into that same kind of vision – fun potions? Maybe it lets you drink it so that you look old – adding emotional value as opposed to anything else, that just fit into our Sea of Thieves world.

    BTW, they also told that some of the premium content will also be available in-game without having to buy it. It's more like a way to support Rare than to get access to exclusive content.

    There's only one issue. Pets, toys and instruments (pets and instruments are toys) with or without tactical value are all cosmetics in a game about tactical value and cosmetic rewards. They evidently break their system if they continue to conflict their own principal thorough vanity favouritism.

    It will impact progression. If you got one target too many behind your back, take one away and progression quickens. No one needs this many targets drawn on themselves. Especially those that divide community. Everything devs introduce to the game affects progression either hasting it or slowing it.

    Games are part of entertainment industry that offers experiences thorough mediums. A game offers an illusion of experience and a challenge to overcome it or some other purpose to channel thorough it. Games are about pace. They have their own flow. The pace has to be maintained or at least checked every now and then if it needs an update.

    One exception to progression statement I made. It is relevant when PvE is affected with something that affects PvE. Then it does hasten or slow the progression in case progression is governed by PvE. Same thing with PvP. However, PvP is not affected by the introduction of an element that affects PvE alone. When PvP is affected, however, PvE is affected as well in this specific environment.

    The hideout is in the game but you won't spawn in there until you get your legendary ship. You can just sail there and get voyages. Once you get your legendary ship you can spawn there and sail from that port.

    @ant-heuser-kush right I was just trying to provide clarity as some above seemed to think you could spawn there at launch. Was mainly adding to your post so people weren't so confused. Seems like people get the different statuses mixed up.

    @ant-heuser-kush yeah and the hideout is there but it doesn't become yours until the 3 month release. It seems like it will just be a hidden port you can use until then.

    @lukzini I have seen bits of the art book and we haven't seen much really if even half of the concepts are in the game. Some may be coming down the line but it's hard to say. Even if we have seen 100% now, in another year that 100% could be 25% of the game after a year. Nobody knows and to me that's what makes it exciting.

    In the AMA they said they will do minor content updates as they finish that content, and the frequency will depend on how complex it is. Obviously, some things they will hold off for major updates (ship captaincy and legendary crews), but things like new instruments, and hopefully rowboats and dice/cards will make it in for smaller updates so we won't have to wait so long.

    We are missing some extra features and hopefully lot of cosmetics, but I don't think we are going to experience a lot of unknow mechanics.

    Events will keep the thing fresh inbetween the 3 months big patchs, I guess.

    @starquest @Ant-Heuser-Kush I think the confusion is between the personal Hideout and the Tavern Hideout.
    The Pirate (personal) Hideout is way down the line I think and will come with captaincy and the ships. Whereas the Tavern (Personal) Hideout will be in at launch and is where you'll meet other legends.

    @ant-heuser-kush I do believe they are two different things. But can be wrong, if I misunderstood.
    My line of thought being: You need captaincy to trigger the spawn and ship model.
    I do think you'll be spawning there, but even if you don't, you'd still need captaincy to have complete control of the ships selection. And be able to spawn a legendary ship.

    From playing the scale test, the final beta, from seeing what we got so far in comparison to what was talked about, leaving not so much that has notyet seen the light of the day.

    I've caught up on watching Crow's Nest's videos and really, doesn't seem like there is too much "content space" left.

    The number is generally a calculated guess to give a cheap idea of the content's scope. In the end, the game is pushed out a bit sooner and will be filled with content in the coming time, so we're not likely to see all that much new stuff.

    Theres no more content at launch, no content intended after launch, its a cash grab to pay for rares chief exec bar tab, rare is shutting down on the 21st, microsoft has sold out to donald trump enterprises and the earth is being destroyed to make room for an intergalactic highway. And thats all about as provable as anything else we know from the latest ama i heard....

    Yeah we haven't seen everything.. The entire end-game is to come, and in some games that is just as or larger then the main-game content.
