  • I hope so but so far there has been no confirmation of that and it wasn't in the Betas.

  • If your playing on PC you can change your gamertag at anytime in the xbox hub.

  • @Paresseux143 My Name is Barnacle Remson, nice to meet you!

  • This would be cool but its my understandding they just use your gamertag. Although apparently they will allow us to name our ship so who knows haha

  • Nope can't change your name. Funny they want to immerse you in being a pirate, but you will be seeing Ted1535 and xxJugganutxx running around. Plenty of other games allow you to have character in-game names that are linked to your live, rare was just lazy here.

  • Anyone can change their Xbox Live gamertag to fit SoT. For those just signing up, you can switch from the default name for free. Or pay $10 at anytime.

Nothing to do with being lazy...you havent understood the game yet?

Rare wants YOU to become a pirate and play, not your character. Your Xbox-label is you, if you dont like that name, change it as others have stated.

If you like to roleplay, awesome! Invite some friends, have a day at D&D or whatever system you love and enjoy it. Order some pizza and have a discussion if undeads can be mind controlled...like ever roleplayer out there?

    This is a game...with a teen rating.

  • Ingame name its your Gamer tag in Xbox app, you can change it once for free.
For all other times you want to change it you need to pay.

If Rare wanted us to roleplay and become the pirate they would have allowed us to be known as something other than xXxRocketShipLaserzxXx, or whatever gamertag you have. The idea that gets strangely offered repeatedly as if it's some cult expression of just changing your gamertag by paying $10, and presumably doing that every single time you want to play a different game... is bad advice and a very poor deflection from this excessively common "feature" found in practically every other game that exists (except for these Microsoft titles, where it is "not about your character" you are not allowed to name.

That must be why I can create a character who looks like me, or at least who represents my gaming persona, instead of getting stuck with settling for a random character with only some qualities that I like after searching through the 8 random people for HOURS. would be fine if we had some ability to filter things like gender body type and hair color but no HOURS of searching and still only partially satisfied with my character and no way to edit anything but hairstyle after choosing one. And after seeing that they expect 60$ to own the game Ill not be forking over 10$ just to change my character name, sorry.
