So I got my question answered on the Reddit AMA today HERE
Do you plan on doing more with The Ship of the Dammed? or Pirate Ghosts in the world, in the future?
Mike: With Sea of Thieves being a fantastical world we'd like to expand on the fantastical elements of the game. We're pretty excited about the opportunity this brings.
It got me thinking it would be cool if when we die and are on the Ship of the Dammed we had more options then just going through a door and respawning some random place (hopefully on our ship if available). It would be cool if you had some more strategic options. Like maybe...
- A way to view/overview into the Living World as a ghost to see what is going on to better formulate a plan of action or exit strategy
- Or come back as a ghost to haunt the living for a time
- Have some options of strategic respawn locations
- Maybe come back as a pirate ghost for a period of time and be able to pass ammo, bananas, or other supplies to help out a living team mate
- Have a special underworld shop for "Rare" (see what I did there) One Time Use items to bring back with you to change the tide of battle when you come back (kind of like a catch-up mechanic)
- Like a one shot harpoon gun that could be attached to escaping ships
- Or a Temp Health Buff extending your health bar for a short period of time
- Or a Damage up Buff for a short period of time
- Or a One shot Powder Keg Launcher
- Or a Cursed Compass that you could throw in the water to cause a small whirlpool near your enemies ship
- A Cursed bucket of chum that can be thrown on enemies to make sharks jump/fly out of the water at them to distract / potentially kill them
- Or better yet Kraken bait that you can throw in the water to make a couple of the Kraken tentacles appear and attack enemy ship near by
Sure there would have to be some limits like one at a time could be bought/used. Even if some of these options cost some of your hard earned gold or something they could be well worth it to make the battles more interesting and the game more fun overall imo.
Let me know what you guys think, or if you have any other cool mystical related ideas. There is just so much more they could and will hopefully do with Ghosts and all I can't wait to see.
