Alright so hear me out as i didn't see this yet. Sea of Thieves is just around the cornor and im excited. BUT maybe just maybe the Devs can one day add a entire new group of powerful (and posh?) NPC enemies into the game. Specifically pirate hunters. You think EVERYONE in the Sea OF Thieves is all welcoming of pirates and misfits? I for one highly doubt it. (Note dont know much on the lore just yet.) No im certain there has to be a group, an organization maybe down to a singel character who utterly dispises us sea dogs and wants to make a diffrence by ridding them once and for all!...cough Thanks POTC 3 and 5...anyways...back to my point. Maybe the devs can give us some PVE sea combat assuming its not just the Kraken. Like either a seperate unplayable faction, a boss, or maybe a monthly/ yearly 'invasion' event. Thats just me idea though.
The Royal Navy/ PVE Naval Combat idea.
@dancylawyer1568 great idea. i wouldn't be at all surprised if something along these lines is already being considered. along the lines of an event a "black ship" would be good. they used one in the total war series, and in ac black flag i think as well. in our case a mega ship that periodically spawns and wreaks havoc until the pirates band together to take it down.
regular anti-pirate patrols would also be a fun addition. they would add another layer of chaos, and who doesn't like that. picture your crew engaging a ship or 2, only to have the royal navy roll up and unload on all of you. then do you flee, or is the enemy of your enemy your new friend?@squallycircle7 I certainly like the idea of a mega ship! Like a man of war or something. That'd be fun. I know the Devs are throwing in ghost ships. Dont know if those will be NPC controlled or 'map' an unforunate player crews fate. (Which would also be awesome)
@SoopaVillain420 , this game is going to and already does suffer from the same things that Elite Dangerous suffers from. People who do nothing but hunt other players, and players who want to do nothing but enjoy the game without the issue of griefers or people who don't follow a simple rule of engagement. So I wouldn't be surprised if post launch the notion of Private Instances and PvE ships rise to the top of the boards. Because not everyone wants to play games with other people, with the high change of losing everything.
@RedSkull0115 Rule of engagement? We are pirates. What I will be doing will be nothing short of that. If any player can't handle the fact that they joined a game centered on player to player interactions, where battles will ensue constantly and their ships sunk, perhaps they have chosen the wrong game. You want a pirate game you can go around and play against NPC ships and not worry about other players and such, perhaps AC Black flag is more to their liking.
@soopavillain420 "We are pirates. What I will be doing will be nothing short of that." Pirates IRL rarely attacked each other...so your statement is false. Pirates IRL had a code, they respected each other. Granted they were greedy and would take others treasure if they could get away with it but it was rare and it was more stealthy then sinking their ship. I have no problem with your play style that is how you want to have fun, I too will want to hunt other players. But others might want to loot and PvE so don't dock them. Rare even said they want players to meet other ships and group up.
And I think @DancyLawyer1568 has a good idea. I enjoy fighting and sinking another pirate ship as much as any other pirate here but adding an PvE element where if two pirate ships were fighting and all of the sudden a war machine npc comes out of no where and then the two at war pirates have to group to fight them off or both perish would be epic.
I would like to see a navy system in place. Where there are a few navy ships at sea and one navy base in each server. Basically if you come across a navy ship they will attack you, you can either run away or attack. if u succeed in wining u get a big reward however if u lose one team mate would be handed over to them where they would be teleport ed to the base and in order to get your crew mate back u can pay bail, break them out, they spend the set time in imprisonment or they can trade there cosmetics items to get themselves out.
Also random spawns kinda like the kraken, of dense fog where (high level) npc enemies like ghost ships, skeleton ships ect. attack you, and you are either given the option to run away before they spawn, fight through them and if succeeding in killing all of them be given a huge reward or survive until the time runs out and be rewarded.
just my thoughts to improve the game and make it more interactive.
@SoopaVillain420 I was not stating what kind of game I wanted, I know exactly what kind of game Sea of Thieves is. I was just stating and pointing out the issues with a game with similar basics. While I myself am one to only fire in retaliation, and never first unless the person has previously engaged me first. I was stating that I would love to have NPC ships that mix up the engagement styles, for as we can see with Skeletons manning cannons on the forts and islands, the AI can be pretty accurate at times. This would also allow players who want to experience more Naval battles, but unfortunately only have time to play towards the late evenings the ability to experience the beauty of this kind of warfare. While the premise of the game is being a Pirate ,that is true, you are open to being whatever you want to be. So I could be a Merchant, explorer looking for treasure, or a bounty hunter for the occult, none of these directly require forcing other players to suffer. So my point still stands, look at games like EvE online and Elite Dangerous, they thrive and get shapen by Player interactions and deeds, and the ability to lose everything you've worked towards if you don't play correctly. But they still have PvE interactions because a world built solely on Players causing interactions with each other can get dull and shallow. Dont get me wrong, I love SoT and will play it for quite some time, and enjoy this style of interaction framework. But that's all it is a framework, if players themselves don't build something out of it except a "Hey I can shoot everyone!" mindset out of it.
@colonel-virus Heh clearly ive missed this, a shame but understandable i suppose...eh my idea still stands. Im not sure how long the Devs Player ship only idea will hold out. We'll have to see.
