Anyone else trying to figure out how to use a VPN to access the game if its a rolling release? ( meaning trying to play 1200 asia time)

I doubt they will, as they have always Turned on the Server at 10 am GMT with out fail during the betas.
@l-dcomen9-l If you look around the MS store in different locations everything points to the midnight 20th March GMT, so there's no point in using VPN.

no Official response saying this is true that I can find.
@daphonic It does make sense though, if the time on each region's MS store is 12:00, and when being on the same region but checking it on a different MS the time changes, it does mean that the release is not gonna be at the same time everywhere.

This Confirms it launches same time for Everyone. The way he says it, it Launches different times for everyone, because 12:00 AM GMT is different for everyone in the world. This does not sound like rolling Starts at all. It sounds like when they launch it, It will be same time for everyone, just Different Times around the World.

You seem to have missed the part where he suggest that they will be watching the game throughout everyone's own time-zone specific release. He doesn't say specifically, but it is implied that it wont be a massive drop.
Why would you want it to be..? I'll likely be playing in the AM sometime, my time, to be well rested, and ready to pirate.
Only because I expect there to be some major hang-ups in the release... ESPECIALLY if they are doing a bomb-drop release.
I don't suggest they do this, because of the massive volume of players that will immediately flood their servers.
I respect the reason behind wanting it to launch this way, though, as well.
@daphonic I don't think we can be sure of what they meant. Cuz they could have just said that because a lot of people will not wake up at 4am to play, so they will experience different traffic on the servers during different hours on the time zones.
So it oculd either mean its a rolling release or not, still not sure xPBut hey, we have a Q&A stream in just a few hours, so we can all raise the question.
@daphonic The recent behind the scenes video that was uploaded by Rare stated that they would be doing a rolling release and watching it carefully over a 48 hour period.
@greyscissors Not interelly. They mencioned that they would be watching it over 48 hours.
But on the release he said "the launch will be different for everybody because of the time zones" that could mean it will launch for people on 00:00 for gmt but 1am for gmt+1, for example, and although it's "different hours to everybody" it still happens at the same time.@tedimshy I see what you are saying, but I’m fairly certain that is not what he meant. I guess we’ll see in just a few days now!
@greyscissors Well, we can just try and ask it on the Q&A stream that will happen in about 3hrs. Then we'll be sure :D
@l-dcomen9-l A rolling release is fine, but it does not mean servers will go live at that immediate moment. They could do a rolling release for updates and start the servers at the exact same time for everyone. I would have assumed they would have tested this rolling release during stress tests or beta roll out to make sure they did not have issues.
With that said you also need to know where you purchased the game from, what continent/store before you just jump on board the VPN train.
For example, I play a game called Dead By Daylight. There was a DLC release in Aus that was a rolling release. A player had to have someone from that Country purchase the dlc for them in order to play on console. This may have been region locked, but I am unsure about that.
Just because you have a VPN does not mean that you will be able to play immediately upon launch.
This game seems to be about fairness so I would assume the servers will go live for everyone.
BTW, my Microsoft store purchase says available March 19th..... That could mean download that could mean one set time and my timezone is still on the 19th? Or it could mean I can play it on the 19th when the servers go live.
Before freaking out about it wait until the devs/MS says how it will be launched officially.
@nightmare247365 New Zealand doesn't need 17 hours to update ahead of the US for a same server start time. What do the poor saps in the US do when they go live at 12AM edt & NOW they have to update? Do they hold up the servers even longer for the last region in to get a "fair start"? I can imagine people would be out for blood at that point, lol. Remember, New Zealand has been sitting on it for 17 hours after release waiting for eastern US in your scenario.
This is a rolling release. When the game becomes available in your region, the servers will be live (barring any issues). VPN is another issue. Hope it works. I'm ready to give it a shot at 7AM edt on 3/19 & see.
@platypuserotica I will look for it. I'm sure VPN to circumvent pricing is against TOS & EULA, but not sure about playing a copy bought in proper region if there are no region locks (meaning I live in US and bought from the US marketplace - hardly "play Anywhere" with region locks). And I'm sure a topic with a title such as this wouldn't escape admin. Wouldn't it be locked/removed?
*edit for clarity@Cebelicus No idea, mate. :) Just figured I'd mention it so nobody gets in trouble in the event it is against anything. I'd love to see more folks on at NZ release and would be happy to suggest a good free VPN as soon as someone confirms it's okay to use one. :)
@platypuserotica I'm planning to use the extra time to relax & select my pirate, Arr! I think worst case is that it doesn't work, otherwise, if you are playing a legit copy, I think you're good. Does anyone have a definitive answer?
@x1-two So, if I bought a copy in US yesterday, flew to NZ in time for local launch, you're telling me that Microsoft's own policy of play any retail Xbox One game on any Xbox One in any country goes right out the window & it would not work? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like your describing region-lock, which the xbox one does not have.
@cebelicus It wouldn't be considered region locked as you can still play it in that region. He is 100% right Microsoft goes off the timezone of where you bought it. Look up how to play games early on Xbox they have many videos out there. A big problem is you need a Address in that location along with Currency of that location, the best way to do this is use G2a or other websites and buy cards for that region.

It very much has a region lock on its store, digital licenses unlock at 0:01 AM of the region you bought it from. If you got your license from cdkeys your game won't unlock until it is midnight in the US. Sure, if you have a physical copy you can use that the moment the servers go live. Assuming the game was sold before its street day.
@pigeonman-beam Ok, update last post to include bringing your Xbox from the US along with you, how does that go now?
