I keep reading that players can change servers to get away from trolling player or what have you. My question is how to do this? Is it like guild wars where you just select what server you want or do you have to log and re-log and get a random server? Reason I ask is i have more then four friends that all want to play the game together and we would like it where we can select which server we sail on so we can play together.

Currently everytime you log in you get a random server or one with a space available for you anyway. So quitting out and back in again should chuck you onto a different server from your last session.
Log out and in for a random server, there is no way to select which server you are on and from the people I have read who tried it is very hard to get people onto the same server. Which while I understand your reasoning I am happy about I don't want to see large groups sailing around with each other I had enough of the numbers being the only thing that mattered back with Ark and I don't want to see it trash this game as well

@el-dth-taco For now, well the foreseeable future that is the way it will be until we either see server management or bigger ships.
