I've had to reinstall the game 15 times...

  • From Alpha and now in to Beta events I have to reinstall the game to get it to work. When it's broken I open the game and get the initial splash screen then it goes away. Once I remove the app and re-download all 19GB it works perfectly. I've reinstalled Windows 10 on my PC along the way and even with a fresh installation this is happening. At this point I can't assume it's my PC. I've asked around and it seems people who aren't using Micro$soft logins on their computers are the only ones having the issue. I will not convert my login to an online account and I will not buy the game if it's not reliable. Getting support from Rare on the matter doesn't seem to be something I can just open a ticket for or send an email. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution?

    Edit: When this happens a DCom error spawns under the System section of the event viewer logs:

    Unable to start a DCOM Server: Microsoft.Wasserburg_1.74.7456.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe!AthenaClientShipping as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error:
    "317"

  • Yes...and here the solution:

    Your not logged in on your microsoft account. Or if you are, you have some "enable app to update" in your settings turned off.

    Try this in the Xbox app:
    Go to settings, exit and close the app, start the app again, then start the game.

    The bottleneck is the registration on the Microsoft game server if I'm right.

    Thanks for that link. Was I missing the "New Request" button or something? I went to that part of the site but saw nothing to enter a new request. Only a FAQ of sorts.

    Thanks, I'm saving that for future use. I did a search in the forum for "Game closes immediate after launch" and things of that nature. This article didn't pop up.

    You can also try uninstalling & reinstalling the xbox insider app (as that usually fixes it as well!) It's only 90mb or so ;)
