I saw a trailer on youtube back in like late 2016. It looked very basic at the time but just the idea sounded awesome. I remember thinking it looked like a early access type game. Then I saw the narrated trailer for E3 in 2017 not too long ago and learned not only that there was way more to it than I thought, but that it was a Rare game, and between learning those facts and seeing the trailer I've been hyped ever since.
I would like to know how people found out about this game.
It showed up on my FB page mentioning game exclusives for Xbox. It had a screen shot for Sea of Thieves. I decided to check into it and about a couple weeks later it was the closed beta. I pre-ordered and got into the last few days of closed beta. This game looks like it will be a lot of fun and not a grind like Destiny 2, the game I was playing.
Was watching devildoggamer and baronblitzkrieg playing blackwake in 2016 and just decided to look up and new pirate games and the E3 trailer popped up and I looked on their website and signed up for the alpha and waited until I was invited into the december technical alpha and been having a blast ever since
A co-worker asked me if I was going to play Sea of Thieves. I asked him, "What is Sea of Thieves?" He replied, "That Pirate game, it looks pretty cool."
That was a Thursday, the next day was first day of the closed beta and I saw people playing it on Twitch... Twitch chat taught me how to get the insider app, thanks Twitch chat.
@coltinio A friend had mentioned about it to me in the past but when i first saw it was e3 2017 and from that moment i dug in deep and found all the info i could. then after a few months the info dried up and there was nothing so i played star wars bf2. around the end of jan i started to tire of star wars and have come back strong on sea of thieves basically sincce the closed beta arrived. cant wait until this game is out haha not long now lads! two weeks from now we will be on the seas!
The way I found this game is when jackseptickeye played it in February then I looked at the trailers of it and I searched sea of thieves on my Xbox then I pre ordered it and played the beta it was awesome then I searched sea of thieves on google and then I saw the sea of thieves insider program and I was interested so I signed up then i started learning about the game
Muselk. He made a video at E3 in 2016 of him playing it. It was an xbox exclusive though and being a pc gamer i didn't care cause all i thought was "Oh cool. A game i won't be able to get or play cause im a pc gamer only." Also i thought the pirates would be generic pre-made presets we'd have to choose from. Later on though after i found out windows 10 could play it as well,no lootboxes or p2w,and we got to choose from a rng customization feature for characters i pre-ordered the game not long after joining the insider program here. Only pre-ordered for the sexy black doge pack though. That mini set is cool. ;)

@onerobiwan Thank you for your service!
You are welcome, thanks. :)
I saw the most amazing controller go on pre-order at Best Buy, Sea of Thieves -Limited Edition Purple and Teal. I was in love! I just so happened to search for a controller on the right month I guess. I pre-ordered the controller not knowing a thing about the game, then during the long wait for the controller to be released I looked into the game. I have never been so interested in a game in my life.
Periodically I watch videos on youtube that talk about future games that are coming throughout the year... Saw this game like a year ago, started following it closely for a bit. Got destracted with life stuff and games I was interested in, fell on back burner.
Well a few weeks ago at work I was on snapchat looking at an IGN artical about the top 5 games coming out spring 18. This was on the top of the list. I went to SOT's website. Fell back in love lol, I was on for the last scale test a few days ago. Told my wife and preordered the game after the scale test, was sold bro. Looking forward to launch.
