Fast Content - 2 Player Crew or 4?

  • Heya all,

Just wondering what people think about crew size, ship size and content. For example I am a pretty competitive player and getting the content grind out the way is pretty important, I can always have fun later and enjoy the PVP violence!

I am wondering would it be faster to clear content with 2 players in a smaller ship then 4 players in a larger ship?

Before you jump onto the convo with "it would be more fun" and "you can easily beat 2 players with 4".... I understand that, I am looking at this in the most basic situation of getting from point A to point B of content as fast as you can. Take out of the equation the other ships/players and just focus on the ship/crew.

Just looking for some opinions, I know everyone plays the game for different reasons and enjoys different things.

  • In my humble opinion, I prefer the 2ppl crew sloop.
Communicating is alot easyer, the ship is easyer to handle and I think my personal experiences with a sloop are just overall better.

Now, I know for a fact that the Galleon and 3-4ppl crews are superfun and I felt alot 'stronger', but still. I prefer the sloop.

    My 2 cents.

  • @lg-gypo it depends on voyage type, wind, island size. i think that the time will be similliar. It would be longer/shorter with skilled/unskilled crew (map read, sails adjustment, proper docking etc.)

  • @lg-gypo
depends on how you cooperate with your crew.
And the skills in sailing with said ships..
A sloop can be docked faster and closer to land than a galleon, but if you got a seasoned crew of 4 there are other ways to go.

For example if you have maps with only contains 1 or 2 chests, it'll probably be faster in a 2 man crew cuz you don't need 4 ppl searching for 2 chests..

If you for example have maps with more than 2 chests on 'm the advantage of numbers comes in to play (assuming both crews are of equal skill)

Also the sloop is easier to get away with (undock and turn) in case of emergency

I really don't think one size has the overall advantage in this game.. it al depends on what you do and how you do it.

  • If you take out other ships and players a 4 person galleon would be fastest right now. However if they make it so you can have 4 ppl on a sloop and you add other players back in then that would be the strongest imo. The most people is better because you can look over the island faster

  • For me, solo is faster than any random crew mates. A galleon of friends on the same page would be lucrative with multiple voyages able to be activated before needing to turn in.

  • A lot of quests in the scale test were low level and basic, so there's not that much complex voyages. I would assume later, the quests may be longer, riddles hard, that it really benefits to have extra crew. Having a crew of 4, means you can start splitting some tasks into teams. Have your team offload chests regularly by just jumping off at outposts, while you go to your next quests, split teams to quest on different islands, etc.

  • @lg-gypo Two good players in a Sloop is hands down faster for grinding that xp. Sloops are much easier to park and hide in small nooks and crannies (yes in Bruges reference) and you can park them really fast and don't necessarily feel like you need to leave someone behind to guard the ship. It's not humiliating to lose a Sloop in battle, but a Galleon...

The downside is that you only have two players to solve riddles and three or four sets of eyes are much better than 2. Don't linger too long if you get a tough one. Just move on.

A Galleon is just fine for grinding but players on a Galleon often have the PvP mindset and take off after every ship in reach, which can burn hours. Players on a Sloop seem more often to be more in the stealth mode in general.

I always level much faster in a Sloop but have had tremendous fun in Galleons. I can solo grind xp in a Sloop much faster than any Galleon group I've been in, including guild mates so far.
