Wouldn’t it be cool if we could use our shovel and dig holes to put our own treasure in?
For example i was soloing on an island and it took a while to find my treasure. While i was searching a galleon came along and started blowing holes in my ship. I had my chest dug up by that point and had to hide it while i fought them, got my boat from another island and came back to get my chest from a small jungle of trees and bushes.
I think itd be super cool if you could re bury your treasure and had to keep track of it in your head, make the clue yourself. “Ok 3 paces north from this tree” to come back for later.
Now imagine being able to also write messages in a bottle like suggested before.
I think the possibility to send other players on a real player made treasure hunt would be so much fun. Also image you got a notification when your cashe is dug up and you go looking for the pirate who took it, like it was your life savings or a valuable treasure from a heist of some kind you stowed away.
For practicality id imagine it would only stay in the ground at that spot for the duration of your play on that server/for that playtime but you could always go dig it up and sell it before you get off. I dont know what the real purpose would be other than to create player made naratives like they mentioned they were building the game for.
I for one would love a feature like this to allow players to create their own famous or mysterious treasure hunts for the community, a single crew, or maybe just for another lonely pirate to solve and sail away a little richer for the experience.
